everyone makes a big deal out of this, but for me I'm not really seeing how its so great. Its all the responsibilities of adulthood without the perks of being 21 (gambling, drinking, sex solicitation when allowed, etc.)...plus I'm levaing for college in 8 short months and I just want to be 12 again and not have to deal with all this shit...
I'll be 18 in April and I really don't see any real benefits other than people giving you more respect. It's all part of growing up. You can't be a fucking Toys-R-Us kid forever.
Dude don't worry about it. It is fun to think back to when you were little and it was all no worries...there really are very limited benefits to being 18, but trust me, once you are out of the house and in college you will never wanna go back.
you can gamble when your 18 in nevada too. you just cant go into any casinos that serve alcohol. but hey, the endless rows of talking slot machines in reno/tahoe airport are fair game.
You think responsibilities are bad when you're 18? Fucking enjoy yourself, man. It only gets worse. Go on road trips, ski all the time, have as much fun as possible. Ages aren't milestones, events are.
Yeah it's not all it's really cracked up to be. Wait until you get to college and see how much of a joke highschool really is. Oh and those 40+ days you put in skiing every year... theres a good chance that number will cut in half at the least. I might get10 days in this year. I didn't even buy a season pass.
dude, yea, there are some things that suck, you got more responsibilities, whoopty do. deal with it. the past two years of my life have been an absolute fucking BLAST (im 19). like stated before, once you get to school, youll realize that highschool sucked. ive gone on soo many amazing ski trips and stuff, and yes. living away from home is a blast. plus, it teaches you to be a crafty poor college student lol. just dont be a dumbass and do anything too stupid, and it will be the best time of your life.
It all depends on what you want too. I learned years ago that I wouldn't become the next tanner hall. So I'm in school now busting my ass off, and hopefully I will make $250,000 a year someday too. And yeah I have fun, but you have to work at it. If you want to really go places, you have to bust your ass. I know kids that only have class 3 days a week and ski/board the other 4 in the winter, but then again they'll probably end up with a 2.0 and a degree making $40,000 a year. Now not that there's anything wrong with that, but I personally would like to improve my socaial status here in grand old america.
yeah, agreed. living life isnt about making 25o k a year. living life is about being successful. being succesful means living comfortably, and enjoying life as much as you can. if you need 250 to live comfortably, that sucks. granted, more power to yah, but not my thing at all. (not saying i dont bust my ass in school either), but i find PLENTY of time to have a blast.
I'd like to give my children all of the things that I never had. and theres nothing wrong with that.
When I go skiing and see all these rich kids walk off the slopes and take their skis off on the porch of their nice winter home, I think how much nicer that would be than hiking all the way out to the cheap parking lot, and driving down to joe's motel. I want my kids to be able to have a pair of park, all-mountain, and powder skis if they really want. Or even be able to take them out west to ski powder period, because the furthest west I will ever be is when I go to tremblant over spring break. My family doesn't have to money to go to park city, vail, or anything like that. I just want my kids to live better than I did.
yeah im really not looking forward to having to be responsible and all that shit when im 18, i guess there are good and bad things, you dont have to be home and do chores, and shit your mom tells you to do,you dont have to go to school, and depending on if you go to college or not you can ski all the time, thats why i wanna go to colorado mountain college, so i can ski every day. but when your 18 you have to be responsible which im gonna suck at when im 18, you get in alot more trouble for stuff. you dont have a mom to do shit for you,(unless you live at home), and other gay shit.
i guess i dont really care how old i am as long as im not old, like 35ish+ or really young like 5. cause when your really young everything sucks cause you have so many rules and you cry all the time, and when your old you are just old and scarry. everything from like 11-25 years old seems the same.
so why is it you lot can't do all this stuff when you're over 18? you pay taxes, you work the same hours as everyone else, but you arn't allowed the same rights as other citizens who may well be exactly the same as you... just outdated laws that ain't been changed yet?
