Lifts are the source of the Potential Energy required to ski. When we go down, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy in our skiing. The kinetic energy takes the form of the friction between the snow and the ski and the force it takes to move the snow and controll the ski. when controlling the ski, our bodies use kinetic energy. Eventually, kinetic energy is expended (we reach the bottom of the hill) and all of our energy is expended (we stop). Thus, we use muscles to pull ourselves to the next lift.
