Hey, so i have been having a hard time learning or thinking of grabs to put into my spins and stuff, just tell me some grabs so i can go out and try them.
Some people find different grabs to be harder to learn that others.
And even though a safety grab is normally considered the easiest, it was actually kinda hard for me, because my legs are so long.
Try to learn these:
Safety - Pull both legs up to chest and grab right edge of ski under the boot with right hand (or vice versa)
Lui Kang - safety grab except opposite leg is extended fully. (and nobody call these gay, theres nothing wrong with a little oldschool once in a while)
Mute - this can be crossed or uncrossed depending on what you like. But grab outside edge of ski right in front of the binding with the opposite hand. Example: Grab left ski with right hand. If you want to tweak it out crossed, just pull the ski.
Phil Grab - this is kind of like a tweaked out safety grab and a little harder. It's always crossed. Just make sure to drop and turn the opposite foot of the grab under the ski to make the cross.
Critical - this is sort of like the mute, except the inside edge of the opposite ski is grabbed but further up the ski.
Japan: grab the left heel piece of the binding with your right hand or the other way around.
This is a cool one: truckdriver, grab both skis on the toe piece of the binding. Left hand left ski, right ski rigt hand.
Blunt/true tail: cross your skis and grab the tail completely out and spin, so rad.
correct me if i'm wrong.
Keep in mind that if this dude is learning grabs, he probably won't be able to learn really hard shit like blunts. I mean there are some pros that don't even do them. Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't rainville only learn blunts recently???
yeah it's all personal preference. Some grabs are harder than others.
But mute is my personal favorite. The key is like really finding your center of gravity. let's say you're grabbing the left ski with your right hand, when you reach around your leg and grab, the tendency of your body will be to drift to the right. When you reach over make sure you not only reach, but you lean too. This will help you keep most of your weight over the skis.
Now if you pull and tweak it out, just adjust your weight accordingly. you're feet with the boots and skis are going to be the highest concentration of weight on your body, so just make sure you're center of gravity is over them.
It all comes with practice. You'll get the hang of it.
^wait did you? it looks familair and i cnt rember the name of the site. it was like ns, but not as good. god, i need to rember thje name or i will self-combust.
one grab that looks really cool is a safety but you tweak only the foot you grab. rory bushfield did one in the hitlist with a 3. i wanna learn those this year. looks so sick
safeties have always been hard for me until recently. i could never get a hold of my ski cuz my boot got in the way.i like grabbing safety in front of the binding so its kind like a stiffy i guess.
criticals feel the best for spinning to me though. they keep everything in a compact position. it helps me spin smoother since i grap with my right hand and spin left so it forces me to turn my body the right way.
