Do ya'll ever think passion for music will ever come back in a big way? Will the "popular" ever be decided by quality rather than marketing? Will we ever start to progress again? It's so hard to see the greater masses listening to music played by people who are told what to play for large sums of money. Will the individual spirit prevail in the music world, or are we doomed to have our children told what to like by MTV "role-models"? I know that if you look under the right rocks today you can still find music created with love and soul, but that shouldn't be the way it is... Just some thoughts on a slow Friday afternoon.
Phases come and go, let's hope this phase doesn't stick around much longer. Although I don't see it changing, this country is fascinated by the Britneys and Christinas and all of the tabloid shit. Whatever Hollywod promotes, most of the younger generations will follow. But a lot of good music innovations have been created in the past which makes it that much harder for musicians to come up with something new. Like you said though there is good music out there if you look hard enough.
Sorry, but I don't want all the 14 year old teenyboppers at shows I'm at. The crowd can kill a show for me. Last thing I want is for good music to be a trend to be exploited by record companies. I'm not saying I don't want anyone listening to good music, I'm saying I don't want people that don't appreciate it, I guess. Maybe I am an elitist prick. Whatever.
