this is complete bullshit, tremblants hotel people strike and as a result the whole mountain suffers.... i am so dissapointed because my holiday is going to be ruined.
ya everyone's making a huge deal about this strike...it's no biggie..most of the hills are open..and if they're not just hit up the powder closed runs..so sick!..your christmas break wont be ruined..it's still bangin' up there
I heard the union is asking for 35% to payroll over the next 3 years. What's the justification?
I mean, seriously, my mom's union got 33% over 5 years, but they had a really good reason. She works for stats can and they have field interviewers (primarily females) and regional office interviewers (primarily men). Anyway, they had the same job description but my mom was being paid substantially less.
juts the hotels??? where the fuck do you think all the tourists are staying dum-dum? this strike is hurting both the mountain and the shops from all around town who see the number of customers drop because of the strike. For the moment, the lifts are run by office people, can you believe this?
It is also unbelievable because Tremblant's employess are some of the best paid of the industry, for exemple, a liftie gets paid 13$ an hour!!
This strike hurts the whole ski industry, and its a shame that some people dont even know squat about it.
It's not that bad, I was up at tremblant monday-friday and I'll prolly be going back up again. If anyone got any questions about what's open or not feel free to ask
its actually pretty gay though. if they werent on strike they'd have had all the lifts open and all that snow that fell would have been groomed. everything would be open.
right now they have a gay little 10 foot table in the park (they could have built a bunch of good jumps with all the snow they have), and no park staff. its filllllled with joeys.
and they ruined my vacation by having everything closed for my family to do off the hill. so all they did was whine, which ruined my vacation.
Its all the intrawest employees that are on strike not just the hotels.
they want 15%over the next 3 years, instead of 20 over the next 5 years or something. They also are scared that the sub contractors will take over, which is probably what will happen.
And yes, a liftie gets paid 13$, but the rent is a lot more expensive in tremblant than in st-sauveur or whatsoever. Intrawest argues that they are the best paid of all their resort, but in fact, the other resorts are underpaid. its not like you can make it in whistler getting paid 8.50$ an hour.
