How do you repair top sheet damage?

I just got some AR5s ( the first model year, the bases are PERFECT....like never touched rails, etc.
BUT, there is a fair amount of top sheet damage, like scratchs, and some chunks missing. There are no core shots or anything like that, but like chunks of the top sheet are missing. Just wanted to know what i could do to make them purdy.

shit man, just leave it till they break or something, but if you really want too i think epoxy as said earlier would work but it is purely for asethetics

Depends what kind of damage is going on. If it could lead to delam, id def fix em. Marine epoxy is great stuff, but takes a while to try. Theres some 2 part epoxy stuff you can get that dries in 10 minutes. If theres no risk to future damage from it, i wouldnt even bother.
BTW, mine are waaay chipped up on both sides of the ski, and i havent had a problem

if your going to put energy into fixing your topsheets, you should have already:
1. built enough backyard rails to open your own park
2. started a ski company
3. built a portable drop in
4. gone pro
5. learned enough about skis to know that topsheets do not matter unless you want it to match your jacket and snowpants

a little epoxy can save your core/more delam in some cases but who cares what they look like I bought em to ski on...

i have a couple of spots missing on my top sheets too, i just placed clear tape over them, you can barley see the tape unless you look close, and it prevents moisture from getting inside the ski and making it weak, i replace the tape after every ski

I have some big gashes and cuts out of the topsheets on the sides on my TM's, what I did was buy some 2 part epoxy, put it on really smoothly and it worked perfectly.

stop rippin on the guy, Topsheet repair can be realy important, the same way you get core shots on a base you can get core shots through the top sheet, at first its just a chip but with that chip its easier for bigger chunks to rip off exposing the core to snow, water-logging and such, and ruins a would be perfectly good pair of skis if you had just thrown some apoxy on em. besides, their your skis, take some pride in them and don't treat them like junk, even if that means fixing up the cosmetics

this is what you SHOULD do:
1. Buy some 2 part epoxy that will bind to wood.
2. Use some sandpaper to roughen up the areas you are going to fill in.
3. Make sure its dry and clean.
4. Put a thin layer of epoxy on it.
5. Ski
I've learned if you put a thick layer of epoxy over the gouge, it doesn't set very well. First time up with chronics = nice top sheet gouge...Good luck

I really dont think topsheet chips are as important as you people are suggesting. For waterlogging to occur, the water must make it through the resin surrounding the core, and the ski must be really surrounded to have water go in. I have a 3 inch section of my topsheet that is missing on my chronics, and I haven't noticed any difference in the ski.
