just scored a pair of last year's rossi scratch on ebay for 2 hundred. my first pair of twin tips! i'm almost out of school and have my first real job so i finally have some $ to ski on!
here's my question. in 2001 my first pair of skis were a pair of 170 rossignol cuts. they have a binding called rossi pd or pr 60. something like that. will they work on the scratch. i'm just learning things like 360s and grabs. never been in a park. or are the old ones a complete injustice, or too outdated or heavy?

do u put used tires on a new ferrari?
for you it will not matter, a dozen kids on this site will tell you different, but honestly your fine...save the money for lift tickes and upgrade to a all new setup in a season or two....

it's totally fine since you are just entering into the "newschool" scence. heck, i learned 1s, 3s, grabs and rails on a pair of xfree with a intermediate level bindings. save your money so you can get a setup you want later on...when you know how soft/stiff of a ski you want and what kind of weights of your entire set up. if you are going to upgrade something, go for the boots...unless you already rock a good pair.

^thats the worst advice ive ever heard. Your boots are your single most important piece of equipment, PERIOD. Even with the best skis and bindings, with a crappy boot you will ski like shit. However, on crappy skis and bindings with a good boot you can ski almost as well.

can boots prevent a broken leg or other injuries? i don't think so. So what if your shins hurt a little. Sure as hell beats a cast.

like what's you're height and weight? you might be able to go with a lower end salomon. Like the 810 or 710

Stick with ur old bindings, they will work like a charm. Lots of pros use older rossi bindings (or they did a couple years ago, used like 3 year old ones at the time) cause they liked them better, you'll be golden.

Remember that new bindings are infinitly cheaper with less downtime than knee surgery.
