i'll be there or wv prolly, but i haven't been there for a couple weeks.
i heard that last weekend they had the A-Frame box and A-frame rail, two flat boxes, and a flat/really mellow down single barrel. but that could be completely wrong.
as of yesterday (wednesday) loon had 2 real small (5ft) jumps in one spot, the really wide box, a-frame rail, and slight down rail in another spot, and a flat rail, a-frame box, and flat box in another spot. they were blowing tons of snow on the park, so i bet the top half will be open by new years. nothing really started on the pipe yet though. the snow is pretty good all over the mountain so get up there before you have to wait 35 hours in line next week
How bad are the crowds at Loon during the peak holliday season?
I was there on Sunday Monday and for most of the day on Sunday there were lines 10-15 deep for some of the features. I'd like to head up there again either Saturday, Sunday, or Monday - but am wondering if it'll be worth the drive if they've only got five features set up and all of the Christmas hordes are out in full-force.
When does Loon get all of their parks going? Seems like it's been plenty cold for a month and a half, so I was surprised to see that the only things they had going were a couple of small jumps and 5 rails, only three of which were getting much action.
Well, considering half of the state of Mass. is there, you do the math. Then again, they all confine themselves to the designated masshole trails and for teh most part just the gondy and kanc quad.
Looks warmish and cloudy with very little precip on Saturday, mix of snow and rain on Sunday, and cooler temps with a higher chance of snow on Monday. Just the ticket for getting that ice nice and bulletproof.
Yeah they're supposed to be getting rain, well it was raining when we were driving back actually... So I'd put your bets on that. They park is going to be huge if I heard right from one of the guys working there.
