Laptop problm, I Need Help

Like two years ago, I bought this hp Omnibook 4100 on eBay. it wouked well but then when i went to turn it on one dy, it started and then went, beeeeep.beep beep. the first beep was long and th two others were quick. the screen stayed black but the power stayed on. the cd rom worked too. Has this ever hapened to you, and if so, what did you do?

shit it says my problem as being Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA) but then it doesnt say what t is in the description

try holding F8 or F1.. one of those should bring you to a menu.. and try bootin up in safemode.. thats if anything comes up. or last known good configuration.

i think that just means the comp is workin but theres no way for it to display it on a moniter, you could try hookin up youur laptop to the moniter of your PC, then see if you can figure it out from there

unfortinatly, that mostlikly means that you would need a new motherboard if you want it to be a protable computer again. the desplay adapter (graphics card) is attached to the motherbaord on laptops. you could get a new motherboard, but it would probably be not worth it, especially for a 3 or 4 yearold laptop. this also means that it may or may not work if you hooked it up to a monitor. if it doesnt, that means that what I just said is true. if it does work when you hook it up to a monitor, that means that it may be as simple as a connection to the screen on your laptop. or it means that that screen is broken. you could get a new one, but again, probably not worth it for a 3 - 4 yourold laptop.

yea i just did the same thing, pulled out my mom's old but decent dell laptop and tried to boot it up but all i got was the lights on the side to come on.
