no offence fredesters but im pretty sure all the ideas and concepts that embody armada are decided and created by the riders in question not some rich guys from the UK whos only input would be on the price of the skis...

are you kidding me, tanner doesnt even have a real high school diploma- hes obviously a moron. have you ever heard him talk? i bet he cant even read. what kind of dumbass would allot tanner hall capital to build a "rider" based company from the ground up? and fucking philanthropist thats who- and a stupid one at that. Tanner is just a marketing ploy, like the rest of the team as a means of putting armada's product out in the parks. the only successful middle school educated man was dave thomas. id give money to a chimp before i gave it to tanner.

He is a lot smarter than you think. Yes, investors have imput on company direction and ROE/ROI ratios etc, but they do not understand the industry and look to people that do. Do you think that running a ski company has anything to do with Earth Science or AP English? It doesnt...it takes a combination of cash (investors) and industry knowledge. I know a number of people who don't have a GED who I would let run the design and marketing of a ski company. Insult Tanner all you want, if you knew him you would not make such a stupid comment.

dude does anyone else think that armada had some backing by oakley? Oakley riders constitute most of the armada team and 1242 was more an armada commercial than it was an oakley one, remember jp spinning his ski around?

Or the fact that the Armada logo flashes on the screen every now and then.

I was under the impression that Oakley threw in a bit of the start up money for Armada, but I'm not sure where I learned that.

Eric, this has you all over it. Hans felt he wanted to help the athletes start a company which suited their needs and acted on their input. He met with more than 80 prospective investors as many were skeptical about spending money with limited say in the company. Eventually they found a few. They are committed. Armada athletes found themselves operating factory machinery to meet demand. They moved production to Europe. It's no big secret. They're a small company trying to do something different. You should check the great story on this on powdermag.com. I'm always good for a shameless plug. Actually, it's all a lie. All of it.

Back in the happy days era, Armada was this mysterious company that not many knew what it was. There were little spots for it in movies and on here, and there was crazy buzz about what Armada was going to be, will it be the new face of skiing, etc etc. Then a season later they released some skis, everyone was stoked, they created this ski company from nothing in a market full of big european developed names, and sold probably just as many skis as them. I think it was rider developed, but obviously backed by someone/some company that is big.

THIS IS HOW IT IS WITH ARMADA!!
Armada is owned and managed by the company Sports Vision (Sports marketing company who operate in London UK)
Piers Portman of the Piers Portman group. (very successfull UK business man) owns this Particular company and he is the main financial investor.
Tanner and the rest of the boys probably didnt concieve of this project.
It was probably concieved but a very clever marketing guy who knew both sets of people and put them together.
What does happen tho, is that the riders do give real feedback which is then incorporated into production ensureing you get some really great skis.
The manaufacturing is now done in eastern europe and they are producing some very good skis now!
So..... yeah.
Thats how Armarda works!
