don't get the 20D it's a semi pro camera. go for a nikon d50 or a canon 350d. and if you have some extra cash get a new lens like the 50mm f1.8 it's dirt cheap and tack sharp. costs 80 bucks new or something.

The Nikon D-50 or maybe the Canon digital rebel. They are both kick ass cameras. Also neither are overly complicated and the cash you save on buying them over a more expensive one can go to a nice lens or two.

i would stress starting with film. i think that there is alot to learn about digital but film understanding film is key in photography. look into a canon elan 7n or the 7ne,both are solid cameras for beginers to pro. as for digital look inot the digital rebels or if you want to go used look at teh canon 10d(around 750-800 on ebay now)

thank you dude, i was just about to say that.
the 7n is so sick, i might buy that soon unless my cousin makes me photograph her wedding, in which case i would have to go digital.
but i REALLY want a 7n.
actually they have a new camera, i think its called like the 7II or something weird.

D50 or D70. but yeah for your first slr you really should go with 35 mm. its a lot harder to shoot (manual mode) other than just picking up a digital camera taking a pic, comes out shitty and just press delete. You learn to take your time because you only have so many exposures and make it just right. digital is the shit and is the future.

I wouldn't spend the extra cash on the 7ne...I've heard bad things about the eye control auto focus. But the 7n is sick.

Don't buy digital rebels. Please please pleeeeeeease.
Save the money and buy a D60 off ebay for like $600 cheaper and spend that money on a lens upgrade or two.
Canon D30 or D60 are the best options for starting out in digital SLR.
Find a used Elan 7 if you want film. They are really cheap nowadays. Don't even bother with the 7n, it just has a couple of extra custom functions, and a backlight, not worth the extra bit of money.

My dad uses the 20D for photography, and I use the other. But I can use his whenever.
