Im sure that a shitload of people on this site have done this before so I need your experience. I broke my collar bone on saturday a week ago (12/10) and I've worn my sling for the first week. I went to the orthopedist and the dr. told me I can take my arm out when I feel comfortable and that the more I use it the better. I went pretty much the whole day today and it feels weak but doesnt hurt, should i continue doing this or should I wear my sling for the 3 weeks I was originally told?
i almost broke mine. but my brother broke his, and i remember him wearing the sling for a long time, but if he says it's okay then take it out unless it really hurts
Do what your doctor told you because I really think it comes down to how bad you broke it. When I broke mine it was pretty much split in two, and a peice of it was forced up and snagging on my skin- it was really gross and took a long time to heal.
I think I wore my sling for at least 2 weeks. I'd keep it on until you feel like the bones have fused back togther enought to where the two sides move togther, not sure how long that takes though. I dunno, if it doesnt hurt too much youre probably ok.
i have broken mine 3 times, and everytime im out of the sling before they say i should be...i feel better being a little sore and moving about than feeling like my arm is rotting off motionless on my side..if he says its ok and its up to you then get it out and move about a bit...you will better in the long run
I wore my sling for about a week and a half, and when my arm was feeling weak or along those lines I'd wear the sling for a day or so then take it out again.
a couple of years ago i broke mine and two days later i was going out to vail so i went to the hospital they gave me a sling and i put it on and skied the whole week and a half i was out there and it hurt a little but was worth it i had a perfect break going out there and when i came back i fell a couple of times and my collar bone was all messed up and my DOC got really mad for me skiing and i had to wear the sling for an extra few weeks because i took few bad falls.
i broke mine last summer and had in the sling most of the time for like 4 weeks. they told me 6 but it felt good. i got hit playing lacrosse and it snapped in the middle. mine was only painful to look at. but theres still a bone sticking up right now. after 4 weeks the doctor told me to start like spinning it in circles bent at the waist with your arm hanging down holding a soup can or something like that and to try to lift it. those seemed to help a bit. and swimming after you get the ok is really good. good luck man
i broke mine the day after christmas last year and i wore it for a month.. i was told i wouldnt ski again all winter but after that month i felt so good i was soon boosting in the pipe again... so just wear it and take lots of pain killers
haha yea I was going to take my chances tonight at ski team practice for my highschool (basically park + jib every night), but taking it easy of course. I broke it 9 days ago but i fucking need to ski...its like crack.
