why do they make it so hard to buy their outerwear? Like the cord jacket.. so dank.. but not avaiable to the public. And the pants sold out in like 10 minutes. Same with the anti freeze pants and pretty everything else they have. I know sunglasses and goggles are they're main profit probly but still, why go through the trouble of designing and making outerwear if you wont have it avaiable to buy for most people. Doesnt make a lot of sense
everybody wants what they can't have. if they can't have it, they are willing to pay more money when it actually becomes available.
look at the XBox 360.
and maple syrup candy. i love maple syrup candy. i don't see it very much down here, so i always buy it whenever i am farther north. but i would pay $10 for a piece down here. just because that's the way it is.
dont you agree that they have probably the best marketing strategy? By creating this thread, you are making their outerwear seems like the golden fleece, so rare and hard to find. Then all of a sudden kids hear Oakley stuff is super nice and hard to find because only pros wear it. Then kids like you have to have it.
Pretty genius when you consider that the cord jacket is a piece of junk. The thing soaks up water like a sponge in the Sahara, is made of cheap material, and yet you will pay $170 to get it (or whatever it costs). Now, I am not saying many of us, including myself, haven't been victim to this clever marketing scheme, but that is why they do it :)
yeah and i wanted the apex jacket, in white, they have it on the site and they say call to order, then they say they are sold out, and they wont be getting them in
it is all about supply and demand....plus oakley is not just trying make the best product in skiing, they are trying to become the Armani of skiing. They are going into everything, tryiing to become like addias. Personaly i think they are starting to lose focus as a company, just like they did in they early 90s.
same, so i got it in brown. but they actually do sell out a lot. and they end up making more money than just risking making more and not sellling enough. i hear more will be available in January. and i saw the sponsored new crobars not available to the public last saturday. so fuckin sick. 80's yellow like the anti freeze pant puffy. with sick strap and hi intensity blue lens.
it doesnt seem that hard to get there stuff. i got it at colrado ski and golf but i might have just got lucky on that one. i guess its true that not many places have it on the internet.
The stuff has a lot of style, that is undeniable. I would love to get in the Link pants and jacket, but the stuff is not waterproof like it needs to be. I bought a pair of Stroke pants during the summer, and they work great but arent as waterproof as I would like.
yea that maybe syrup candy is amazing but for the price of like a couple leaf pieces i could get an 1/8th of mids... worst rip off ever
And I know that high demand + less product = higher prices but that doesnt nessacery mean higher profits. Like I guarentee if Oakley made 400 more of those Cohort 3.5 Cord jackets right now, all 400 would be easily sold within a week for the regular price.
