well ive skied at the canyons at heavenly (mott canyon and kellebrew), and they were prob a little bit steeper than some of the stuff on this list, but what makes the shit on the east so hard is how icy it is and the conditions suck, but it made it both hard and easy about how much snow was in the canyons, because they didnt have any freshies, so it was all like a week old, so it was somewhat hard to turn because of that, and when i went to squaw, i skied all over, and i think that the trails u access of the KT22 lift is about the same slope of stuff here
and ballinbu, u should shut the fuck up, go watch EPOCH and then talk shit about the east coast

They don't compare to out west.
out west is all above treeline, cliffband, big cornice, chutes, with SOFT SNOW
BIG MOUNTAIN
the east has icy, steep, rocky, chutes, that are really technical.
I grew up skiing in the east, and i have no problem skiing anything out west.

pitch is just as steep in some places.
think about it man.. they are fucking mtns. I have pitch in my backyard that is steeper than lovers leap in blue sky basin.
it's not all icy and shitty either. sometimes it is, sometimes it's not.
People hate on the east coast, and have no clue what a powder day is at Jay, Magic, Sugarloaf, or Stowe

Whats not hard about Black hole, steep, tight as shit trees!?!?! Sure, the bottom runout isn't all that difficult, but the top is challenging.

outer limits is really not that hard..i skied in fine when i was 13-all bumped up.Julio is fun, but not hard.Ovation is harder IMO.
How about tucks in the hardest in the east-steep as many of the harder trails out west.

I can't believe that list had two trails from Cannon. That mountain is easy as shit. The tramline is simple, as is that Glade (kinsman's or whatever) right next to it. The "front four" are ridiculously easy. The best stuff at Cannon is the hike to shit up at that Mittersill (or whatever it's called) place.
I've skied 5 trails on that list and I also think that Rumor at Gore should be on it. Also the Slides at Whiteface and Paradise at MRG

While it is good to see Berkshire East up there Competition is not a hard trail. There are at least four harder trails at Berkshire alone.

I've skied some tough stuff on the east, but even with hard conditions, you can pick your way down without too much trouble. Now, skiing something like iced up outer limits like a champ is *really* hard.
However, dropping into Glacier Couloir on whistler or the sisters at kirkwood is insane, and if you don't get it right, you can easily f*** yourself up.
Mott (and killebrew) Canyon, while fun, are both a joke. Especially when there is powder. Though, you can find really tough lines, like under the "Danger Cliff" rope all the way on skiers right in Mott, right before the Killebrew spine.

but I've done Competiton at berkshire east, white nitro at loaf, zoomer at cannon, and chutpah at SR. but half of those places...like stratton, smuggs, and magic, I've never even been to. I guess I've been missing out

None of the runs mentioned come even close to the fingers or eagles nest. KT-22 has pitches which far exceed anything in the east. I have plenty of respect for the east coast, but I have yet to hear someone who has LIVED (not visited) in both places say the east is steeper. Some of the pitches on KT, the more mellow ones are similar to what is found on runs like goat and paradise, but the difficult stuff is far more difficult than anything back east. This is not an attack on east coast skiers, but some of these statements just destroy credibility. It is like saying florida has bigger waves than Hawaii.

for sure... West coast Big mountain skiing is in a class of it's own, and it doesn't compare to the east.
However, the east has some serious technical, rocky, icy, super steep runs.
we also have sick powder days and glades that compare to out west. Just not nearly as many

I agree a little on the rumor comment, if you can ski rumor on a shitty day and make it look good then I give props to you, unless you are ducking into and out of the trees on either side where all the good snow is... then it isn't that hard

I find it funny that zoomer is on there at cannon, If they are only counting like marked trails they should have mentioned middle hard, tramline , or kinsman. I guess they coulda thrown mitersil on there, but only certain parts of that are hard, The snowfeild trails off where the oldman used to be should rank #1 though, those are intense. I didnt notice if they included any trails off the chin at stowe ive done that a few times and that was rediculous, big cliffs deep snow and tight trees

there needs to be more mad river glen on there and some of the choices i would have to disagree with.
but refering to some people who say there is nothing hard about the east. it is much easier for an east coaster to go to the west than it is for some one from the west to come to the east. why? there is practically no such thing as rocks and ice and dirt out there. here they are commonplace.

I used to live back east, but there is nothing on the east that comes close to the sick lines at squaw or whistler. I am not bagging on the east, but nobody with any credibility who has LIVED back east AND LIVED at a big steep mountain out west will say anything different. We do ski rocks, ice, and dirt out west. At squaw, we might get afew weeks without snow. The stuff in the sun gets slushy, then freezes. Anyone who says you don't ski ice out west either has never lived their, or stays in the park all day when there is no pow, which is pathetic. If east coast skiers could just come out and dominate, how come EVERY big mountain contest is won by someone who lives out west?

all the wide groomer (ice) trails on the list like whit nitro and zoomer should be nowhere near the list. i can do those two without stopping easy, now try to do paradise, chute, liftline, lynx, gazelle, or panther without stopping. You'll work a sweat, and they are difficult due to obstacles and terrain while those groomers are only difficult if you straight line them, and that just takes huge nuts.

also. i dont want to rag on all west coast skiers, but i have a friend who only skied vail, aspen, and such , who is generally considerd a good skier, wasnt worth shit at cannon, first he was pissed when i took him down kinsman he was complaining about trees, rocks, grass (which is skiable), and ice. (plus he destroyed a skier)
Its like Gladiator. There is the rich punk who trains with his personal trainers and is generaly a nasty fighter, but when he faces a real soldier he gets his ass handed to him.
I dont want to rag on most western skiers, because there are alot of ridicously good skiers far better than me, but there are a lot of candy assed western skiers, who can only ski powder and groomers

Vail and Aspen are not steep mountains, and your friend is not a western skier. He is an east coaster who occasionally skis out west. Until most of you spend a season out west skiing everyday, or a season out west skiing almost every weekend, you are not in a position to make an informed comment. And please do not say something like "you need to spend a season back east to comment," because I spent many seasons back east. At mad river I felt like one of the best skiers on the mountain, at squaw valley I was up against Shane and JT and Gaffney and a legion of unknown locals who will blow your mind. Mad river made me feel like I was good, squaw valley made me feel like I sucked.
