What do you think is the best video camera for getting ski footage? i think the Sony VX-2000 or Canon GL2 with the century fisheye would be the shit

16mm is expensive, but it is the best. the K-3 would be the way to go for 16mm. What do you think is the best for digital?

hey, i have both an xl1s and canon gl2, ive sorta got a brand loyalty to canon

u want to stay away from the vx2000, its got major autofocus problems, and the benefits of a gl2 or xl1s is 'frame' movie mode, which mocks the slur and motion of 16mm film, dont be mistaken, it doesnt exactly work PERFECTLY, but its leaps and bounds over the motion tracking of a sony

I've worked with the vx2000 for almost two years and it's a fucking dream. You're talking out of your ass on nothing but hearsay.

try the panasonic ag-dvx100. xlr audio inputs,24fps progressive mode, sick camera. i like the gl2 as well. whatevre you get get a good cinefx program to give it that film look

hey, just so u know i have a vx as well, and it does have autofocus problems. granted i dont shoot in autofocus, but if this kid is gonna go out with not a large understanding of shooting, hes gonna wanna use autofocus to start.

any fast pans or tracking (which occur heavily in shooting skiing) cause the vx's lens to have a momentary lapse due to the speed of the motion. almost all cameras have this problem, including my xl1s, although it seems to be minimalized by the optical image stabilization and a stronger autofocus

im just letting the kid know what the cameras like and my experiences, im sure you like the camera, i do too, im just partial to using an xl1s, especially for a faux-film effect to match my 16mm shots
