to do this wood rail about a month ago, i didnt wanna catch so i just took a file to my right edges, worked for me

^ really??????hahah. i use a de-tuning stone, or better yet, bevel, or sharpen the underfoot to about a 70 degree or so, you will have an edge in the pipe, but not catch on rails

Yeah bevel your edge, then the first coulpe rail slides will be smooth and the rail will further dull underfoot.
