Pants idea... I predict it will happen in the next two years, I should get patent

I am surprised padded pants haven't happened yet. What I propose is to put some type of air pressure system, like in the inflatable fleece, or somewhat like bubble wrap, between the outside shell and liner of pants (in the hip and butt sections of course) Think about how great of an idea that is. What makes things hurt is the time of impact. Air bubbles make the time of impact longer, hence less force on your body. Sort of like airbags for your pants. I predict it will be done tactfully within the next two years.

I'm pretty sure I saw "Karbon" pants and coats with padding. This was a few years aga when Karbon tried to be cool and release a freeride line so my memory could be foggy. The stuff was ugly and heavy and I never gave it a second look.

I don't think it'll happen, oakley already tried, and it resulted in $600 pants, which knowone wants.

you could wear a football girdle with the appropriate pads...but that's kinda weird.

Or you could just buy some stuff from REDprotection.

I think I didn't convey my point well enough. I am fully aware there are crash pads, I had a pair once(should probably get some more). I am talking about air inflated zones. Who has seen the oakley zip-in inflatable fleece? Something of that nature.
As for the bubbles or air pocket popping... if you spread out the pressure over lots of small bubbles, no, they won't pop. Get a roll of the small bubble wrap and put it flat on the ground and jump on it flat-footed. They don't break. Even if some of them do break in that instance, now we are talking about between a hip (flesh = softer than a shoe) and a snow covered surface (even most ice is softer than concrete or tile).
Lastly, this doesn't have to be thick or noticable. My pants right now are fleece-lined and pretty thick, but it doesn't show. I think this pant would be very marketable and I bet half the people on this site would buy a pair for the same reason: bailing learning new tricks destroys your hips

Not sure if it'd take. I mean pain to some extent is half the fun. Like you take some good spills while trying something new, and when you nail it, it makes it all that much more worth. Sort of stupid macho talk, but then again its true in the back of your head.

oakley had some years ago similair to the impulse squared jacket. They were _______ squared hence the inflatable inner liner that could be blown up and deflated by the user. They were 600 bucks or so and only came in grey and rust or some shit like that.
