It depends on what kind of skier you consider yourself to be. For the vast majority of the public magazines like Skiing and Ski and God knows what else do the job of telling the weekend warriors which mountain has the best marketing department and which boutiques to visit in Aspen. But for those of us who, when asked, "Who are you?" are first motivated to reply, "a skier," I'd have to say that Powder has and is doing the best job of documenting what's going on in skiing and consistently keeping ski junkies stoked over the years. SBC Skier is definitely sick though and if I were Canadian I might swing in favor of Skier - as it is, it's hilarious to read as an American anyway because Canadians making fun of Canadians is even funnier than Americans doing the same. Freeskier certainly has the corner on the newschool market (by default) but it still needs to find a soul and a voice. At any rate, I think they're moving in the right direction. Slowly.
