I rode a few different paris of skis this weekend at demo days, and just thought id share my...thoughts..on the skis I rode:
Salomon Foil: I rode the 182's first and those kicked my ass, but once i rode the 174's it was much better. They have great stability and awesome pop, and can make sick carves. The only reason i didn't like them was because they tended to hook up when you try to ski big open turns, due to the dramatic sidecut.
Salomon Gun: Amazing. Floats well in pow, tons of pop, easy to turn, and very stable. I rode the 175, and they were one of my favorite skis of the weekend. They are just sick at huge radius turns, and were really fun switch. They were real stable, and you could also make short turns on them if needed. I liked how light they were too.
Volkl Karma: My favorite ski of the weekend, these boys rip. I rode a 169 first, which was real good, but once i got on the 177 it was the best ski ive ever ridden. Extremely stable at mach speeds, quick edge to edge, and can make short turns if you need to. These were amazing for long SG turns, and rode really well switch despite being mounted at recommended. They were pretty stiff, but if you load the tails they have a ton of pop. These are the ideal all mountain ski.
Elan MO2: A really fun ski. These are really awesome for buttering and have lots of pop. They weren't as stable at speed as the others, but are real good for park. Really quick edging too, and again, super fun to ski on.
Line Invaders: These are my skis, and im sending them back to line because they are already delaminating. They are horrifying to ski fast on, because they're centered and have so much tail. They do have more pop than any other ski ive ridden, and are (obviously) great to ski switch. I can also do crazier nosepresses than ive ever done before. Unfortunately, theyre about as tough as an emo kid.
