Quote Reply the whole crew was riding down all at once and cr led the pack, he hit a wind lip and threw a 3 off it and landed and right after landing it a younger kid who was riding with him hit the same feature and landed on him. looked like the skis hit him right in the head. ski patrol took for ever to get to him. i later heard a chopper land and someone said they medivac'ed him out. hope hes ok. definitely one of my favorite skiiers
woah woah woah...we? maybe you were fooled, but you have to be pretty gullible to believe that. This is pretty sketchy, but if its true it sucks so much
this is kind of a stupid statement....most pros should know it is a bad idea to hit a cliff you dont know is clear. it seems strange that noone was spotting the cliff or runout, but I dont know what the cliff or terrain was like or whether or not that were filming/shooting, so I guess I cant say what was happening. but to suggest that the reason pros should wear helmets is so they dont land on each other is kind of dumb....
i don't think that would made too much of a difference, either.
if you read about how much protection helmet actually give you it is kind of scary. Most only have to pass saftey standards at speed of like 15 MPH.
CR is actually super lucky to have had Kye hit him. If it had been anyone else who doesn't weight like 90 pounds....it could have easily killed him.
Either way, the whole situation was preventable and shouldn't happen. Sucks for everybody.
lessons learned from all this.....scope and know what is in your landings!! It isn't hard.
Lots of positive vibes for CR and Kye. Head injuries are tough and he wont really know the effects of them until he is awake. Hopefully there will be no long term damage.
i was on the millicent lift at brighton, opening day for milly's and it all happened right next to me as i was on the lift. it wasnt a cliff he hit. it was more like a natural roller. it was just to the right on the lift towards the top of milly's. it didnt register to me that it was CR until i saw the camera guy with his 16mm cam. i feel bad for kye he was flippin out. my buddy said he heard cr talkin to the ski patrol as they were puttin him on the sled, but it definitely gave me the shakes when i saw it happen. i had to stand at the top for a minute. who cares if you like cr or not, you gotta be givin him some good thoughts right now. it could be any of us, we all like riding with friends.
Holy shit dude... C.R. Better pull thru... not only for skiing's sake... but also for Kye's Conscience. He would need a jug of prozac to get over that one...
Not to mention it would be the 2nd fatal accident that he has had to live thru in his short skiing life. Remember. Kye's Father, Trevor Petersen, Died in a freak Avalanche skiing the Exit Coulouir to glacier Ronde at Chamonix back in February 1996.
