Bindings and Flex

again, somewhat of a newb question...but how much does mounting the bindings affect the flex of a ski?

Mine feel much softer than the ones in the shop...is it just my imagination?

I think the flex of the ski is unaffected by where you mount the bindings. Mounting them in a different place will change what part of the ski you are using most though, and that can change the ski a ton.

thanks for the reply...probably a more accurate response than the question merited.

Quite simply, what I meant to ask was whether an unmounted brand new ski will feel stiffer when you flex it by hand than it does once you've had the bindings mounted

The bindings should stiffen it up right where they're mounted, but the rest of the ski will remain the same.

I'm guessing your asking if when your flexing a ski at the shop, if it'll feel as stiff as when your riding it.

A binding should stiffen the ski up some, but then again when you have a binding on it, your gonna be on it, exerting your weight, which is more then you can exert with your arm on the ski in the shop.

I like to see how snappy the ski is when I flex em. How much power it returns when I release.
