Replying to Best Run Ever
So as you New Englanders know already, we just got dumped with a ft. plus of the most light and powdery snow in ages. But while you probobly waited for the snow to get cleared enough to drive, me and a buddy took action. Just before noon, still snowing easily 4 inches an hour, I left to make the sketchiest drive to my friend's house where there was still a good amount of snow on the road, still not plowed by the town with only a few tire tracks packing it down. Once arrived, we planned out what we were going to do but inevitably came to the decision that we are going to hike the local ski mountain which so happens to be a short half mile up the road from him. So we set off and hiked up the entire mountain, in knee deep powder via old biking trail as to not get caught. 2 minutes from the summit, the snow stopped revealing perfect skiing conditions only complimented by the lightest powder we can even remember. After strapping/clicking into our bindings in old ski race stations (to aviod the mess of powder in the bindings) we set off from the top. Although knee deep while hiking, the powder built up to our waists as we took off down the trail. Gaining speed the powder sprayed into our faces which just had us smiling the whole way down in almost total ectasy. We took a left halfway down into the "park" where nothing was setup. We then where met with freshly groomed trails which was groomed literally two seconds ago as the CAT was still on the trail beside us as we skiied down. Met again with fresh powder near the bottom, we floated above it because of the speed we gained from the groomers. Once at the parking lot, we walked to the road, skiied down the side talking to some people on the way down eventually leading us back to his house. Never had I experienced anything like this on the East Coast... It was insane and we can prowdly state that we were the first people to ski summit to base, on a mountain all to ourselves filled with light, plentiful powder.
