Windowblinds 5

hey, i just tried this program and you can get skins of the new windows vista. it seems pretty cool, but i have heard people say that it slows down your comp. is that true? also, i want to download it to see if it is actually worth it. has anyone else tried this program? also, is there a way to get those kind of skins without needing to download a program?

^^thanks for that link. i have a question from that thread tho, how do you get them to load without using windowsblinds or stylexp? i read it but didnt really understand what it was talking about.

i'll try to make it as simple as i can. visual styles, or msstyles can be loaded in windows without any software. all you need is a modded uxtheme.dll file, which can be downloaded here:

that should patch and modify your uxtheme.dll file for you. after that, download any visual style you want (NOT a windowblinds skin). most likely the file will be a .zip file which you will need to extract with winzip, winrar, or any other archive extractor. then find the "windows visual style file" that you extracted, double click it, and then apply it.

windowblinds is completely different from visual styles. windowblinds skins can only be used with windowblinds software.

thank you very much for explaining that, is there any way that modifying that file will mess up my computer, or should i do a windows restore point? also, coulnt i just back up the file that im changing and then change it back if it messes up my comp?

just do the uxtheme.dll hack, it doesnt take up any system resources.

yea, just make a restore point. and i can guarantee that it won't mess up your computer unless you do something insanely stupid, if that's what you're worried about.

I had the longhorn conversion pack installed for awhile. Slowed it down and then eventually fucked it up. EVENTUALLY
