Ski movies need to step it up

well i watched some snowboard videos last weekend and theyre insane, they are ahead of ski videos in terms of filming and tricks... after watching a snowboard video like one love your really psyched up to go skiing, now dont get me wrong ski videos are good too, they just dont get me as psyched up as snowboard videos, ski movies have sort of a laidback chill feel to them while snowboard videos seem to be in your face, "hardcore" that keeps you really interested.. maybe its because i havent seen that many snowboard videos or maybe ive seen too many ski videos and im waiting for something new..idk, i wish ski videos would have the type of feel that this short clip of vanular has... its sick and it really makes you want to go out and kill it!! ..i havent seen shanghi6 yet and i hear its really good so dont judge what i said based on that movie

both deal with snow.. both have rails and jumps.. who cares if its two planks or one. both living it up doing what they love.. watch them all. who cares whos better..

WE ARE SKIERS! Not snowboarders. Respect their sport, no doubt. But retain our own identity as skiers and stop trying to follow in the footsteps of our boarding brethren. We should stand shoulder to shoulder at the top of the mtn, not let them take the freshies and be like, "WOW, see how cool that snowboarder is!"

sessions 1242 was sick back in the day..but since then everything is the same..im not trying to say that snowboarding is better then skiing, cuz i dont think it is, i just think skiing needs some more variety in their videos a sort of "wow" factor.. some stuff that we havent seen yet.. similarly to what recent snowboard videos have brought to the snowboard community

besides robot food videos (which i along with countless others love)i really dont think snowboard videos are that great. that said, i think there is definitely a lack of effort to change it up in ski video lately. TBC, one of the exceptions, is by far the best movie to come out in years. there are a few things that piss me off about shanghai six tho. berman shows so many features so many times in a row, and even the same trick in a row up to 3 times. it can definitely work well to show the same feature twice in a row if someone kills it a couple diffrent ways, or even the same trick if its epic and there are two REALLY good angles. but shanghai six and high 5 both have soo many repeat shots of the same trick or feature in a row, it gets really boring to watch

Yeah because you know you see people zero spinning pyramid, switch nining Chad's, boosting 40ft. off a hip, launching 20ft. stalling onto a tree, sending 100ft. cliffs and 60ft. double stagers ALL the TIME! Man you are right, they def. need that WOW factor... Fucking tool.

ski videos seem to have soundracks that have giant holes in them. like war, i cant watch some of it including anthony's segment because of the music. and like that oooh ahhh song in vinnies part...fuck its lame. like sometimes its good and i get really stoked, but then it switches back to the same old corny ski movie songs. snowboard vids are just on a different level, and there is no reason they should be

candide was going huge on hips back in ski movie 3 on the mammoth hit, that was like 4 years ago or something..yea the zero spin and switch 9 are impressive, but the majority of backcountry jumps in videos are 7's or switch 5's, and no im not impressed with people launching 100fters, cuz seth morrison was throwing rodeo 7s off 100fters back in '01... most of the kickers in movies arent that big and no one really can compared to pep's segment in sessions 1242 when he spun all ways and stomped huge switch landings in knee deep powder..thats definitely sick, too bad its from 3 years ago and i havent seen much better since, and when it comes to urban only a couple people are beginning to push the limits.. Ive seen better urban in am movies then i have in some of the pro movies this year, that definitely is an area that will get progressed in the future..its not a bad thing its just the truth...

Ok let's break this down just a tad...

1) Candide was going huge on that hip way back but it was just him, and only for that one time, soo that point of arguement is dead for you.

2) If you aren't impressed with people launching 100ft. cliffs there must be something really wrong with you or you are just simply lying. And as in the same case stated above, Seth tried a rodeo 7 off that massive cliff in Ski Movie 3 only once. Thus again making this point made by you completely invalid for arguement.

3) I agree I haven't seen much better than Pep from 1242 in his switch landings BUT there are people, many more people, landing huge switch tricks into powder so it's not just one person anymore. My point can also be saying that freestyle moto-x isn't stepping it up because Pastrana and Metzger where doing the backflip a few years before everyone else started doing them. Ready, aim, BAM! Another point of arguement shot down.

4) Only a couple people are pushing the limits in urban? Seen better rails in AM movies also? Uhhh, alrighty I think you just made a point that went completely against of what you are trying to argue and that's skiers are not stepping it up... Way to go.

Now I could go on and just pummel your dead and once pathetic attempt at proving that you can row against a tsunami wave without a boat and paddle, but I think I'll just leave it at this.

my point is to the dude that answered me, its things like I was in the BC the other day and soe kids hiked by and I did just like a big laid out back, and all they say is cool pants man, then I said thanks and he was like if they were like one ize bigger they would be sooo thugg. WTF does that mean>? I ride with all boarders because I can't find skiiers to hike with me, and yeah I see bigger things in person and by am's then in pro vids. And switch in pow is just a learning block. I can land switch fine in pow, its not like some amazing feat. Boarders look at things alot and think they are sick for what they are, not for what they could be, and yes skiiers are in it for fun but way to much is about image. and to deny it is just being defensive/

well, sure I guess some skiers are into image, but I wouldnt make the stereotype that skiers ski for an image and boarders ski for fun. I know waaayyy more people that snowboard cause it is "cool" and portrayed as the "rad" thing to do on MTV than I do skiers who ski to be cool.

well see I partially agree with you I ride in MT kinda away from alot of the because I don't ride park, this year tho when I styarted college I was at the b bowl hikin to build some jumps and these newschool kids were down hittin a rail at the base on a pow day, thats first but secondl; I actually laughed at them they looked so funny. Having to correct your pants every 4 minutes, your coat half open and definitely not made for cold at all, all wwearing the same hats w/ like 130 dollar goggles, and a hankerchief in their pocket and seriously they look STUPID. and then I am like "Hey hows it goin guys?" And i get "Sup dog, you down with hittin this this shit?" what the heck man what does that mean? Then they have these huge attitudes, one of these kids got invited by one of my friends with out my knowledge to one of our booter sessions, and I did like 10 run ups before I hit it because it was massive, and you had to go SOO fast, and he was just like this shits played you guys suck and went and built like a 5 foot jump and did 3's when he never even strapped in and charged the jump. They are just like image whores, and embarrasing to be filed with
