04/05 Line Chronics vs. 05/06 Head Mojo 80's

Hi,
I've narrowed my search down to picking up last years model Chronics or this years new Mojo 80's. I'd be getting the 177 Chronic or the 172 Mojo 80.
I've ridden racing skis for years, but I want to get something that's more maneuverable in the powder and crud, but is still stable enough at high speed on the groomers.
I'm also looking to add a freestyle dimension to my trips to the mountain, but I doubt I'll be spending a great deal of time in the park. Maybe 10%-15% toward the end of the season as I've gotten more comfortable and confident.
Any input from folks who've skiied one or both of these would be great.
Thanks!

4frnt MSP's just caught my eye, but I can only afford the 04/05 model.
So just to mix it up there a bit. I'm a bit troubled by the fact that they jump in size from 170 to 180 though. My current skis are Atomic GS:11.21's in a 181 and unless I'm on the groomers or ice they're too long and stiff for me to handle. There's just too much ski there for me to maneuver it through the crud without CONSIDERABLE effort.
Oh and I suppose for frame of reference I'm about 5'10" and 165-170 pounds. I mountain bike most of the year almost daily, and run in the winter on the days when I'm not skiing. :) I've also been skiing for about 20 years, but other than a stint when I was 15-17 I never did much freestyle, just all speed, but that's what I'm looking to change.
Thanks!

Don't be a dick. He's being honest. The ski he said he can't handle is a GS race ski. And he only has problems in crud/off the groomed.
Both skis are good. I would go with the Chronic as I have no experience with the Heads. Both are known to be faily durable.
Some ex-racers I know all seem to really like head twins.

Get the head mojo 80. they are pretty stiff and in my opinoin a better ski. you probably be happy with this ski. and given your specs, you will be better off too.

They handle great on ice and groomed runs.
But their about as stiff as a 3" steel pipe, and they are extremely narrow with a very shallow sidecut. I think the measurements are something like 99/64/89.
The problem is that when the slops get fluffy or choppy they're just impossible for me to control. I can point and shoot them down the hill, but it's a hairy ride. I can't load up enough on the tails to snap into shorter turns, and they're HEAVY so popping them around is a hell of a task.
I bought them when I weighed about 40 more pounds, and LOVED them. I had considered just getting the same ski in a 170-something, but decided I'd like more versatility.
I haven't decided if I'm going to sell them or not after getting new twin tips. It'll just depend on how the new skis perform I suppose.
Anyway, I ski in the northwest. Mt. Hood, Silver Mountain, Schweitzer, Mt Bachelor, etc. I love ripping down the groomed trails at race speeds, but obstacles (other people) and patrolmen tend to be an issue. So I'm wanting to get something that will let me get out in the trees easier, off on the edges of the runs in the crud, and will let me move into some more freestyle air stuff.
Thanks!

That's a lot of nods for the Heads. I actually checked out last years model at a store locally.... for as many places as there are to ski near Spokane there is jack shit for ski shops by the way... and they were pretty damn stiff.
They had both the old Mojo and the standard Mad Trix (same as new Mojo 90 and Mojo 80 respectively). I'd have to bet that they're even stiffer than the Völkl Karmas... which is saying something.
I'm a little hesitant to go with the Mojo 90's as they're a pretty fat ski, and quite heavy, so I fear I'll loose a fair bit of carving performance, much more so than the amount of powder performance I'll loose by going with the narrower Mojo 80 or Chronic.
You have to understand that I'm coming from a ski with a 64mm waist with risers under the bindings too... so leverage on the edges is something I'm VERY VERY used to :)
Are the Chronics a fairly stiff ski? I don't have anywhere to check them out here unfortunately. I have checked out Armada ar5's and ARV's at a local shop, and they seemed soft to me... much more so than the Head's. Any idea where the Chronics might fall? Oh and is there any difference between the 05 and 06 Chronic? I've searched, but get conflicting reports.
Thanks A Bunch!

I have kind of gotten the impression that the Atomic twins are pretty soft skis. I played with a pair of TM's in a shop and they had a nice even flex pattern, but they were pretty soft leaning forward and back on them. I haven't seen the tweaks though.
Public Enemy's seem like a really great ski, but I can't stand the p-tex top sheet. On the one hand it's nice that it makes it repairable, but on the other hand it's going to get chewed up pretty quickly too. I thought about grabbing some of last year's for cheap though.

i would condier a piar of last year PEs. they are stiffer than the TMs, but not even close to the stiffness of the heads. Plus you can get some good deals on them now.

LOL... if I could afford the Völkl Karma's we wouldn't even be having this discussion right now :)
I'm relegated to spending ~$300 or less unfortunately.

here is the d/l
Mojo 80......stiff like my cock
Line Chonic...... butters like your mama
If you used to race, and are mosty into groomers then take the Heads, but if you want to progress in the park....the chronics are the way.

Honestly I want something that might help me get off the groomers a bit so I can avoid all the crowds on the runs.
The reason I still gotta have good hard pack performance is I know myself, and I know I'm going to want to go FAST at least once each time I go up :)
I gotta tell you... picking twin tips is WAY more difficult than picking race skis :)

if your going to do softer snow, go with the chronic, 'cause it seems to me that they could be a little wider then the mojos, but hen again the mojo is proven a great ski

Alright,
Well I managed to track down some Head skis over in Idaho and checked them out.
The new Mojo 80's seem much different than the last years similar width Mad Trix. They have a lot more flex, so I assume they'll offer a better setup in the park than before, but they don't seem particularly torsionally stiff, so that makes me question their carving capability.
I also found a guy at a shop locally who has a set of Line Chronics and they're a nice springy ski with a lot of pop, but the torsional rigidity seems pretty low. They seem more like they'll pivot and skid through turns on the groomers rather than edge in and carve.
Maybe I'm just asking too much of a twin tip? I'm wondering if maybe I should be looking more at the Line Pro models from last year as I understand they're possibly a better all-mountain carver and off-piste with park ability... rather than the park ski with a bit of all-mountain capability that the Chronic seems to be.
That being the case, does anyone have any idea what the difference between the Mike Nicks and the Skogen Sprangs is?

So you dug up a months-old thread to give someone purchase advice? That makes sense...

I've been skiing the chronics for two seasons now, and they are amazing. they handle well in the powder, and everywhere else for that matter, and they stay stable at high speeds
