After watching and participating in rail jams, im dissapointed in what is being done on rails now. Last year it was spin to win, basically whoever could do a 630 on would win. Now spin to win has taken another turn, where its just a huge string of kids doing 270 on switch ups 270 off. I have to admit this looked cool at first, when Sammy Carlson was doing it in his windells edit on ns a few years back before he was famous, but now its kinda boring to see over and over again. I'd like to see it get more creative, with some 50-50's, tailpresses, nosepresses, one footers, and such. I'd also like to see more varied grinding in slopestyle comps.
im pretty sure its going to start coming to that id really like to see more nosepresses and tailpresses starting to come into comps im not going to say anything about one footers and 5050s just because i dont want to start that whole heated debate but yeah def nosepresses and tailpresses
There was a textbook NS response if I've ever seen one. I think where rail skiing is right now is pretty cool, it seems like people are more into just getting super tech right now. But it seems that the tricks being done on rails change considerably every year, as you stated, so just hold on a little while and I'm sure people will be doing a lot of stuff that's more your type of thing.
how can you reply to this? ill go fo it tho....yea. i tooooootally agree! i mean, whats up with that. when i saw em doin it i was like "OMG! Dude, WTF are they thinkin?" when i got home i seriously LMFAO!! isnt that just cheezy? FO SHEEZY THIS THREAD IS NOT STEEZY!!! HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
in what way are one-footers gay?? i mean, the level of difficulty involved in performing one on a big rail is crazy. i think everyone has to be more open to progression, b/c even though it may not look too great at first, just give it some time, and eventually 1-footers will look really good.
yeh man i knwo what u are talking about...i love 1 foot grinds and 50-50s..i have been conjuring up some new creative shit for boxes(just becasue they would be impossible to do on rails) and i cant wait to try em out this weekend...if i can do them...they will be dope i garuntee
for starters, they need to eliminate 90% of boxes in rail jams. most of the kids doing 270 sw-up 270 couldn't do it on a rail. and rails really make reverts alot better and more solid.
at the rails to riches rail jam everyone was doing it on a flat down rail. the vid was the same shit over and over again. props to the kid who won, but id like to see some variety
whats sweet is getting like super super low so your like sitting on your skis, thats what i wanna see more of, it looks super cool and ive seen one person do it, and on boxes like big butters just going straight or spinning.
my one guy rich does some pretty smooth lookin one footers, and ive 50-50d rails for the past two years, and will this year...but were from indiana, so i guess we dont really count...
i think the whole rail thing will cool down soon. hopefully anyway. the crap people are doing now (switch up and stuff), while hard, isn't even really like skiing. i think jumps and bigmountain are and always will be our mainstay. for the record, i would include halfpipes in jumps. skiers are/will be dominating that stuff.
fuck though rails are soooo damn fun, i like them better than jumps cause you can do them all day and not get worn out, with jumps if you fall a couple times it hurts alot more, with rails you just fall, hopefully not anywhere bad, and get a tiny little bruise.
i do get sick of all the spinning shit though its cool to do a switch up, 270 off, or on, but all at the same time is kind dumb, its impressive and it looks kinda cool, but when people do like a 270 on like 3 switch ups 270 off it gets stupid id rather see a 270 on and do the rest of the rail super smooth.
i just watched ready fire aim, and the rails were much more interesting in that, manuever wise not really setup wise, and it was much more creative back in 03
in my opinion one footers look circus like and i have yet to see someone pull it off and look stylie. I'm sure someone can make it look cool but not as of now.
I liked rail comps for their variety, I am fearing that variety is starting to dwindle. Big air has become a cab-10 competition, I hope railsliding doesn't end up the same way.
i hardly think rails are going to dissapear... i just think their popularity will cool off a little.
and you need to get in shape if you can't ski all day without getting worn out to the point you are not having fun lol seriously though, i know what you mean. a handful of good bails off a big jump and you are prettymuch due in the hot tub. unfortionatly, i have HORRIBLE luck with falling off rails. i always manage to hit my damn hips, knees, head, face or something else i like not to hurt.
