i dunno,i saw this guy today, he had some really sweet oakley wisdoms, arc'teryx jacket and pants, new pocket rockets w/ new 1080 boots and bindings, and shit like that, so this guy gets off the charilft and falls, and then he does like the gaper wedge shit and knee blower type stance down a realitively simple run, which makes me think, this guy is out there to be seen and has equiptment wayyy advanced for his ability, and that is kinda dumb. just was wierd, so yea, just a random thought...

This poser shit is really fucking played out. I never bother to worry about them, because I dont give a shit. When I go skiing I do it to have fun, Im not caught up at all with what others are wearing compared to their ability. Its a lot easier than you think to simply have fun skiing.

I agree with Big_Willy, you call him a poser becaus either he was willing to dump some cash into our sport and wants to learn or some cunning sales man conned him into buying gear he really didnt need. go home.

it appears that you may be jealous of someone who can afford nice gear. So you resort to calling names. It seems really immature.
See..my jacket was cheap. probably less that $100 US. BUT.. If i bought a $400 jacket and i wasnt a god at skiing, all of a sudden, im a poser.. but the same person with cheaper equipment is not a poser? Its the same person. Get a job and stup hating on people who have the things you dont. Get over it

That so called poser might of been a good ass snowboarder that was converting to skiing, so how could you assume that he was a poser. I know this becasue living in Mammoth I would see pro snowboarders try and ski all the time, becasue they like it and of course they have all the best gear possible because they are pros, does this mean they are posers?

i agree that you shouldnt be making fun of someone for trying to take up a sport, but i have to say it is hard not to say 'what a fag' when you see a dude snowplowing down the mountain while using thousands of dollars of equipment. You all have to admit that.

takin off switch is a lot easier then landing it. But, as long as he don't bother you, or anybody else, then just laugh and have a good time. Besides, he's only a poser if he talks shit, not if he's bad.

Yah man I dont like seeing people riding around on brand new shit...i remember seeing this girl on 1080's a few years ago who wasn't even good at snowplow...and i mean its good she's pouring money into the sport but there are more deserving people is all.
As for talking shit yeah I agree its not at all cool but its hard not to when you're surrounded by good skiers..I know b/c I did it before although i admitted i actually COULDNT throw bio 9's later. yah i know that was gay lol. Really all those guys are still my friends though so its all good, and Ive learned through all the newschool skiers i've met at my hill and other places that as long as you're doing it and trying hard it doesnt matter how good you are. So if some kid buys 1080's or scratches b/c they see all the pros riding them, and they truly wana learn to throw down like that even though they aren't as good I say leave em alone! I know my first pair of 1080's(blue ones) I was just clearing the table for the first time, and no my parents didn't pay for them. I just wanted to learn to ski like that and I figured the best way was to learn on the same skis. I woulda felt like shit and not been able to throw anything like I can now if some guy came up to me and told me I shouldn't be riding those skis because I suck. Don't worry about that guy snowplowing on 1080's, worry about that hugeass battleship you're about to hit up or something
hey man, that dogs pissing on your 1080's!!!
THAT BASTARD!!!!

I really get sick of all this 'poser' talk... and I'm glad that most of you guys are voicing your opinion, too. If you care about whether someone is a 'poser' or not, then you obviously don't care enough about skiing. If you ski, you shouldn't have to worry about other people, and how THEIR image will affect YOUR image. You hate 'posers' because you're afraid that they'll cast negatively on your image... when you really shouldn't give a fuck. When you care, you're really being as much of a 'poser' as they are, because you're worrying about your image.
