since they dont update a park report here it is, 2 jumps, one 15 foot, other 20ish - about 16 jibs. half boxes half rails. most of the features are flat, one a-framish rail and some of the boxes had a little down angle. a couple features were ride on but lots of fun jibs top to bottom
yeah, ride ons are homo...they get all rutted by snowboarders too. even a little gap is nice, but a 2-3 gap with a nice lil lip is perfect. ride ons are fun to practice butters though.
sierra's park is looking good, very well mantained (their crew is on it). It consists of a 20' table, 30' table (seemed smaller, but that is what they say) and jibs galore. some really creative setups, a big fat butter box at the end of the park for some presses. really fun stuff, we need more snow for bashful to open. anybody rollin' at sierra?
you only think ride ons are easier to learn on, actually a gap is MUCH easier to properly get on a rail......the hard crashes people take on beginner "ride ons" often hold them back from getting the confidence to try a real rail.
Rails are all commitment, and Ive taken my worst and most painful rails mistaking a ride on rail for something a skier can actually hit.
ok... first off, how would you catch your tip if it's a ride on? second of all, they usually have wide take offs cuz they are you usually in the baby parks, and third, you shouldn't be even be skiing park if popping onto a rail is gonna make you ski back seat too badly..
and too bad you guys don't like ride ones.. since im hurt im stuck to the baby park, and im having sooo much fun..
people catch their tips on rideons when they are small takeoffs and get beat down a bit.....
I took a nasty fall at breck last year, the weather wasnt good so we strolled over to one of the smaller parks. There was a cbox set up, about half as big as the one in the main park. I didnt think twice about approaching it switch first hit, and got slammed. going up the tiny narrow take off switch my tail hit the box getting on and i took the coping to the elbow and rib. Ride ons force you to ollie, rather than stepping or gapping onto rails. Way too much effort is involved in getting on the smallest of rails.
my tails did, ride ons often times fall just a touch short on height. When you combine this with low boxes/rails and a short small narrow take off your tails/tips can be "past" the ride on before your boots even hit the takoff, anyone get what im saying?
or, just keep hitting ride ons, and one day you will know first hand. I look at a ride on rail with more skepticism and nervousness than I did a 100 ft rainbow set 25 ft high at keystone.
i didn't say you don't belong in the park.... im just saying, someone whose skiing sucks (is too backseat) because they pop too much doesn't.. i hope that's not you...
