i want to do backs, but im afraid that the skis will make it hard. i can do it on tramps and off diving boards. Im just scared that the skis will make it really hard to rotate
do it where theres powder, build a nice decent jump and for your first time throw back hard to make sure you make it. but if your gonna do it you have to commit.
spot your land then stomp it. after a couple time you can leave your knees behind and really lay them out. do it in pow if you can. i caught my tips the first time. ive cought them abunch on tables too. as long as you have the correct speen and a smooth table then when you catch you tips its just like sliding into a base in baseball on your stomach. that shit doesnt even hurt. honest ive gotten fucked up way more times on spins then on back flips.
Powder a nice inrun with a decent lip steep landing like a drop off a cat track then you dont need as much speed hit the lip and for your first attempt you want to throw it as hard as possible and keep looking for the landing!
Stick It!
whenever i do them on the inrun i just say to myself comit comit comit, and then pop and it'll come natural just keep your head back looking for the landing and you've got it
its all about committing to the flip. most people get half way and stop. just keep the head looking and spot your landing. 3's are the same deal.. just have to open up at around 270 to slow down the rotation. and never, never spin off the lip.
If you have it on a tramp then build a kicker that's 4-5 feet with pow landing, and give it just a little more lip than normal. When you go off, imagine a fine girl standing right on the lip and hump her like you mean it while looking over backwards with your head.
If you have enough air then you'll pretty much stick it because you can see the landing for a long time and it's easy to tuck up or let out to control your spin.
this applys for all tricks but in the end you jsut gotta go for it. You ill never do anything if you jsut sit ontop of the hill and think about what might happen if ypu fall you jsut gotta go for it. Shur you might fall a few times but you will stick it in the end. After one run throu the park to test out jumps and warm up jsut do it. The more time you spend thinking about it the mroe you will phyc yoursealf out.
push your weight down onto your tails right before you pop off the lip. Also dont be afraid of speed, it will get you higher and you will have more time to rotate. you should also check the landing before you do one to see if it is icy. make sure the snow is somewhat soft, then just tuck and commit.
Yeah just a tad though. My friend learned them and he hardly skis at all. The next season, first jump of the first run for him, he tosses one over the biggest jump in the park and stomps it.
i don't think i'm going to do them again till i go out west i landed on my neck thankfully it was a spine and i just slid down the side but it messed my neck up enough that i feel it everyday
anyone overrotate there first time, with all this talk about throwing it as hard as you can and tucking your kness seems like more kdis would overrotate there flips, thats almost worse that underrotating
man, backflips are so easy. once you try your first one you'll be way surprised how easy they are... for mine I just build a real lippy jump into a lot of powder, just balls out go for it real fast and pop off the lip just as you'd jump on the tramp, do it the exact same as on the tramp and you will see the landing in no time, from there open up or tuck in depending on height from ground, how much rotated, etc... that's natural though. easier than 3s in my opinion, i landed my first try
holy shit they are so easy all you have to do is look back real far and just keep looking back and you will do it but if you stop looking back your fucked cause that will stop your rotation
backflips are easier than you'd think. much easier than spinning but also not as cool. I was landing them consistently before I could land anything else really. Don't do that. try it, you'll get em like the first time, but don't obsess with them. learn the other tricks too.
Its kinda funny, i can do 3's 5's cork 7's and i cant do backflips, i know i just need to commit but mentally i cant do it, i tried once and just grunted really loud and landed on my back!
