the X-wave 8 is very similar to the 1080, except it is much better. It has a nicer liner, has a stiffness rating of 95 I believe (as opposed to 85 with the 1080 boot). Great boot if you are comparing them - defintely get the X8 over the 1080

thanks.....i nearly bought into the 1080 simply because of the cusioned footboard. but it looks like the x wave has the same footboard, no? this is fairly important to me, cause i was in the park last year on my technica icon x, and i nearly broke my feet every time i hit a hard landing!

yes, they have identical foot beds. But the better liner with the X8 is the real advantage

the 1080s have a better foot bed, the 8s dont have a cushion. but the liner and power strap is way better.

Okay, this isn't the case necessarily with the new boots, but up to and including last year the 1080 and xwave8 shells were identical, but they xwave had the better liner. No flex difference. This year may have changed things.

well, is says that it does from the salomon information on the tags. it says polyurithane footboards to cushion your feet on big landings. maybe it's a different footboard than the 1080's?

This year's Xwave lineup has a "Fast" and a "Free" option in most boots. The big difference is usually a 1080 style bootboard in the "Free" version, like the XWave 10 Free has.

Hard bootboard.
Try ordering a cushy one through your shop, they might be able to.

yeah, the 03-04 and the 04-05 are the same. and i had the 03-04 and i thought that the foot board was pretty harsh on my footsies when i oves shot jumps. the stiffness isnt too bad on the 1080s, but the power stap on the xwaves is far better.
