Dont blame me for being retarted for buying this and not being big into movie making or anything. a freind of mine heard i was getting into it with low cost software and had connections. so got it for me. anyway. how do u cut parts from a clip and have those parts as a totally seprate clip. Anyone with FCP expeirince please help.
the manual that comes with it is REALLY comprehensive and good.
there should be a little box, usually off to the left. it should have like 5 squares you can click on. they are stacked on top of each other like a long verticle rectangle. the second one down is the razor. use that to cut your clips. that is probably the easiest way without being there to show you.
Well as you use it, you'll learn to batch capture, so you wont really run into this problem.
Hit "b" on the keyboard, or click on the razor blade icon in the toolbox to activate the cutting tool. Make your cut, then hit "a" or click on the arrow in the tool box to get the selector back. Drag your selection to the browser (where your clips are stored) and drop it there. Once it's there, click on it, and re-name it so you know what it is. Simple as that.
I HIGHLY reccomend that you do the tutorial though. Most people never use FCP to it's full potential.
