ACTUALLY THE US DOES GIVE TERRORISTS MONEY AND WEAPONS, almost all of the weapons and buildnings the taliban uses were given to them by the US. Well let's remember that the Taliban and Al Qaeda are separate entities. The Taliban was the ruling government of Afghanistan, and Al Qaeda are the terrorist body we are after. They were subject to the most severe physical and psychological torment. The regime also banned the activities of the society of the Faili Kurds and closed their schools and sporting clubs in Baghdad.

They confiscated their properties, which coincided with forced campaigns that resulted in expelling more than seventy thousand Faili Kurds to Iran’s borders. In the spring of 1980, the campaign continued and 150 thousand were expelled. Ten thousand of them are still in Iraqi prisons; they are between 18 and 40 years old. The international human organizations were called to probe the fate of those miserable, buts in vain.

We must mention that the Iraqi authorities did not accuse any of these prisoners. The Iraqi government has denied their existence many times. The regime did not only expel the Faili Kurds, but confiscated their properties and withdrew their documents as well to make it difficult for them to prove their Iraqi nationality. Luckily, some few and brave Faili Kurds could hide some official documents.

This unjust expulsion of the Faili Kurds pushed them to an unknown fate after being so rich in old days. As for those who live outside Iraq, they suffer from alienation and the inability to merge in the unfamiliar culture ever, plus the lack of capitals necessary to start new life.
As for those who remain inside Iraq, they live in an invisible status. Worse than that of those who immigrate. They suffer now from fear, daily terror, and are repeatedly summoned to police stations, to be subject to investigation. you still haven't shown us proof of his 'weapons of mass destruction.' TONS of rulers have killed their own people and committed other comparable atrocities. After Putin gassed 50 or so people in that theater are we going to remove him from office? Well regardless of the proof... guaranteed that those soldiers WANT to go in and fight. They want to see action (now in bad wars they might not want to see action anymore), and they are gettign paid to do this as their job. I haven't heard of a lot of proof, but that's because inspectors have just gone back in. There is suspicious stuff however. A lot of weapon manufacturing sites that had been destroyed in previous altercations have been rebuilt, and some stuff that the weapons inspectors tagged back when they were allowed to a few years ago is missing. But all you can really say is that it's suspect.

You also have to remember is that we aren't priveleged to all the information the government has, and this is a good thing I believe. But it also can mean two things. We have information and are keeping it classified for the time being, or we really don't have that much information. I don't think anybody can say either way. You may be imbedded with a preference in which direction to believe, but you can't say for sure.

Can someone explain to me the US's sudden interest in Saddam, very shortly after the 9/11 retaliation that pretty much failed because the US have no idea who they killed? To me, it sounds very much like the US gov't avoiding the issue by starting a new one.

I'm not saying that there isn't a need to stop saddam from killing a lot of people, but it just seems very sketchy how the US sticks their big ugly ass into the middle of this problem that has existed for much longer than the last few months out of the blue.

Well that all went to shit when some terrorists that were supposely harbored in their country flew airplains into our buildings and the nation demanded action. We turned around, bombed the hell out of them and set up our little interim government that is totaly disfunctional.

I don't see how you can say war is never the way to solve anything. How could certain ever issues ever get solved if there wasn't a threat of physical harm, and attritional losses.
