I have a shell and a puffy and a liner that fits in both so if it's cold, I wear the puffy but if it's cold and wet I wear the shell with the liner... saw my dream coat today tho and it's a shell... god I wish I wasn't so broke...
depends. a puffy is good sometimes, like this whole week i wish i had a puffy, its been in the teens. but since washington can get so wet, i wouldnt get a puffy unless its 10 or 15,000 waterproof, theres a chance it could get ruined if its less than that. i know burton makes a 15000 waterproof puffy you could check that out. but overall i'd say an insulated jacket is good
Kevin, you obviously have some superior layering skills.
And yeah, i have a shell and puffy as well. Having both is nice because the puffy works well in the cold (especially in the recent days), and the shell works for pretty much everything else. so basically i've re-iterated what everyone else already said.
