what up boys, im a long time skier/instructor from ontario and im really considering taking a year off studies to work out there. I was wondering if anyone has done this (i hear its a common thing to do) if they have i want to know how hard it is to get a job at this place. As i said i've skied all my life, am a level one instructor, with 4 years teaching experience.
You'll probably get the job wicked easy even if you don't get the level 2 cause coming from Onterrible I'm assuming you don't have an aussie accent. Your students may therefor be able to understand you, an undeniable asset.
Um.. actually forget getting your level two.. if you really want to ensure yourself getting a job, forget actually knowing how to ski and learn to fake an aussie accent..
then you are sure to be hired.. in fact it would be even better if you had an aussie accent and grabbed a snowboard instead (bonus points if you have never snowboarded)...
4 years of exp? easy. just apply early and get out early. im on my year off now i got a job 3 days after i got here at the end of september and its sick.
forget about teaching skiing. if you want to enjoy your time out here, spend it skiing every day, not picking up little kids on the hill. practice washing dishes before you come out, that way you can ski all day, and work at night.
Don't think its too hard to become an instructor. My bro got over there in late november, did the course and got hired as an instructor. He's a good skier but hadn't done any instructing before.
or not even a lot of instructors teaching never-ever kids don't have their level 1s... probably better to have ur early childhood development cuz ur gonna be changing dipers...
