Unbelievable - I'm getting busted by the police

I ski down the hill to the crossing of two pistes. I ski out looking up the hill where there is a ridge obscuring a small portion of my view. From out of nowhere, and right in the obvious blind spot a snowboarder appears and smacks flying right in the back (he ignored a ralentir sign too). I get helicoptered off the hill. He then goes to the police, tells them he has only boarded for 2 weeks and therefore 'couldn't possibly be going all that fast' and wants me to pay for his board which he broke across my back...........
He wants to come round here for a 'friendly chat' about his board and the police have given him my address.
What should I do?

You opend the door and saw both of you your dads with their mustaches where they didn't belong. I'd like to know, how in the same day you got hit hard enough in the back to break a snowboard AND get helied off the mtn to the hospital, and still make it home in time to post on NS. The force it would take to break the board would be immence, think about it, 190lbs guys slam these things down on rail in the middle after 10 feet of air. You would've broken your spine, or at least slipped a disc, in which case you'd STILL be in the hospital screaming and moaning. Save your stories for show and tell kid...

that story does sound pretty bogus.
however, i had a police report filled out on me last weekend by a sheriff in south park. thats's no lie but it was all a misunderstanding. they thought we were trying to break into a friend's house, but really some of the freaks i was with just accidentally locked us out. we never did get to go skiing that day since half our gear was trapped inside.

The story may sound bogus but is not. Its pretty unbelievable too, which is why I wrote it in the first place. yes the police did give the other person my address for an 'amicable' agreement over the board and because I had to stay in hospital they interviewed him first and he invented a story. They went up the hill to look at the area of the crash yesterday and they are going to contact me with a decision on whether to charge me with 'reckless skiing'.
And for the record I was helicopetered off the Brevant ski area at the intersection of the col cornu and parsa sectors. As I said, right by the lift queue at 3.30 on the 19th of December.

if you do go to court bring in a copy of the skiers responsibility code, especially the parts that say, when starting downhill or merging stop and look (something like that), and skiers in front of you have right of way.
i dont know anything about this mountain, but you could try to say b/c he's only been riding 2 wks. he was out of control and riding over his head. just a thought...

the down hill skier has the right of way,... but you have to look uphill for on comming skiers before starting sking of traversing. It is the partial fault of both of you. I wouldn't give him a dime.
