This has been stewing for about a week: FUCK J-MO!!! If i hear any little limp wrist on here say that that little media whore is a good media representation of our sport, im gonna kick your ass, Jay and Silent Bob style! Mr. Pretty Boy, shows up in Steamboat for the Paul Mitchell Ultimate Bumps & Jumps this weekend, reportedly getting payed 10 fucking grand just to show up and what does he do???? He throws straight airs in the pipe comp with airs about as small as his cock. Whoa whoa whoa whoa!!!!! Didn't this steaming pile of shit just wild card into the X-Games Superpipe??? Then in the big air comp, he throws a god damned spread and a tail grab that he almost didn't get!!! HE FLAILED ON A TAIL GRAB ON A JUMP THAT CR THREW HIS FRIGGIN BIO 1260 ON!!!!!!! luckily, there was enough of a crowd to boo him to convince him not to compete in the 'free' moguls comp and judge instead. the whole time, uncle e was trying to stick up for J-MO by saying that he wasn't on skis since the olympics (proving how much hes in skiing just for the exposure) but fucking a'!!! the douche could have at least thrown his mute 360!!! I'm not saying this to demean the man, even though he'll never hear of this cause hes too busy fooling around with some butt nut from Real World. I'm just saying that he is not a good ambassador for freesking OR freestyle and i hope that CBS shows his pathetic-ness on sunday. This is just a mad, impassioned rant. Maybe Berman can add some substance to this, he's got a more level head about the whole thing...

What he did was not cool, and definatly not good for the represention of our sport. As for him being shoed in as a wild card in the X-Games superpipe, well, If I was an an athete that had to compete in the qualifiers to make it in, I would be pissed as all hell. (for the record, there are high profile athletes that still need to qualify for superpipe, and they are not happy about the situation.) I think it would be very wise of him to take a bow, and NOT to compete the X-Games superpipe.

finally someone says the fucking truth. why do freeze and freeskier continue to talk about him like he has ANYthing to do with new school. What has he done in the past few years? He threw a cork 7 no grab in the olympics, ok. Does he enter the us open, x-games, red bull huckfest, WSI, anything? No. Yet he gets magazine covers and shit. How about moseley's segment in..oh wait, he hasn't made anything good lately. I'd rather see reedy or kozody or mcmurray or any of a million people get as much press at that guy does.
some people I know are like, hey, wouldn't you sell out too? Yeah, if I could get sponsored by fucking sprint and chevy, I probably would, but that doesn't mean I'd stop competing and shit. when you have the ability to do nothing but go out and practice your skiing every day practically anywhere you want, but instead you decide to walk around wearing a shirt that says 'ski', you've got problems.

I'll admit that mosely has done little since the 98 olympics to promote the sport of skiing, but honestly, i refuse to come down on the guy like you just did. I have NEVER been more excited for skiing then the day i saw him throw the mute 360 in the olympics. I don't care that he wasn't the first or whatever else you want to say about that moment, it changed EVERYTHING for me. Those of you who are just picking up on skiing just don't understand what that jump meant to some people. I'd been trying to push skiing for a long time before that jump, doing everything from daffy spread eagle combos to 540s..before i even knew anyone else on the planet had ever landed backwards on skis before. It wasn't until mosely's moment in the olympics that i realized that skiing was turning over a new leaf. That moment to me is the single most important moment in skiing. Glen Plake, like mosely, may not be representing the sport the way we'd like right now, but don't forget what they've done in the past....they both pushed it to an entirely new level. And frankly, they can do whatever they want now, and i'll still show them the respect they deserve.

moseley should take a bow in the x games superpipe and leave the spot open to the new up-and-comers. i didn't know about the events at the paul mitchell comp. that sucks. i can't believe he stunk like that. that is bad showmanship. a mute 3 woulda been fine, or a dinner roll at least...
but still, you can't dis him like you just did. what he did in the 2002 olympics was quite impressive, and he should have won (remember FIS changed the scoring rules making the dinner roll the highest scoring trick this year). moseley is an ambassador for our sport and that isn't going to change anytime soon. when the general public thinks of freeskiing, they think of him.
also, he does have other credits to his name. he won the US open slopestyle in 2000.
i will say that i think moseley should be a commentator or a judge over competeing... unless he gets his act together and can hang with the elite. it doens't do our sport any good to go out and throw spread eagles in front of network TV. i only want to see him in the spotlight in his best form, but keep skiing jonny (for yourself).
and yeah, he sould get together some video segments for companies other than warren miller. his 13 seg was his last good one that i remember...

anyone ever notice hes changes how to rotate a dinner roll like 2 times, first it was a rodeo (with poles in one hand so he can really GRAB his ski), then he said it was his version of a flat spin in Ski Magazine and then he trys to cork it in the Olympics so he can get it by the judges as not being inverted...Mosely is gay

i agree that he helped push exposure to the sport by throwing the 3 in the olympics. but, he needs to get his act together and come down to earth. is it just me, or do you guys and gals think the intro to the johnny moseley mad trix game was totally gay. and i know, it's his video game, he can do whatever he wants, but still.

I don't even see how Mosely's still some sort of unofficial freeski ambassador. Mainstream seems to think that Mosely's some sort of godfather of skiing. Like why doesn't the spotlight shine on Mike D? He ain't the best, but he's still very much into the sport after age 30, arguably the most influential jibber ever, and not full of himself

Jonny Mosely has done alot for the sport of skiing as far as exposure of 'new school' into the rigid FIS freestyle judging and such. Winning the gold medal gave him an opportunity to be a spokesman for 'newschool' and have a lot of say and push in FIS. He only came back for the last Olympics to get change the way freestyle is judged. There are alot of other guys that can throw inverted and cork airs in the bumps but Moseley was the best skier of them all and went to all the trouble of getting his trick approved which only he could do. His influence on freestyle was the catalyst for a 'new' freestyle.
However, showing up at Steamboat and taking a spot that would have been filled instantly by several of people that would have gone for it was wrong. But wouldn't you show up to straight air a jump for 10g's? Moseley has just as much talent and ability as the best out there as he has proven in moguls and in the '99 US Open.
Don't be soo hard on a guy that has had a positive influence on skiing and made a mistake. He's a nice guy and I don't see him deliberately hurting our sport. Hopefully he's seen his errors and if he's done with it he'll find a new role that will continue to benefit skiing.

I think all of our complaints about him will be fufilled when he makes his superpipe debut at the xgames. I am certain that he is shaking in his boots, worried about the embarassement he is about to face come January. Special invitation, I bet he didn't want it more than we didn't want him to get it. Time will expose his weaknesses.

He may not be nearly as good as these other guys right now in superpipe and that shit, but, I would bet that if he trained hard for any event, he could be pretty close to the top. Im not sticking up for him. Infact, I agree with most people. But if he trained for superpipe, he could do well I think.

anyway, switchcork10, i totally agree with you on most things, but just think of it this way....if you were steamboat and payed a guy (20 g's i'm pretty sure about) to just show up, then i dunno about you, but i would at least want the guy to throw a 360 knowing how many kids and people were gonna show up. all he did was frown upon the sport that day and if he is sick of skiing he should quite. about the judging, fuck that, Tanner should of won hands down, there was no question about it if speed was only 10% of the score. i was with most people on really liking the guy and what he had done for the sport before, but you can't just say well i'm too good for this or i'm over this one weekend. you have to stick out what 'he' chose as a career. just because he didn't win the olympics doesn't mean he doesn't have to prove to people like us that he totally SHOULD HAVE......it's for the kids man...i dunno how many times i have to say it...i'm just glad people weren't affraid to boo his ass that day because he deserved it. sorry about the longness...the end

i just think that if what johnny mo said the judges were going to try to do, which was judge on based on criteria of fluidity, style and big tricks, tanner should have won...plus he did pretty fuckin good in the bumps compared to an olympic bumper, you are very correct about that, and that alone deserves some props...

He is an icon, the guy that all non-skiers know most about. I personnally like schad better, but wait, with his mute grab and dinner roll, he helped out with our sport progressing. He may be an asshole, but he deserves a 2nd chance. Plus he was 2 busy at the olympics to do anything good, and was practicing for 1/2 pipe afterward.

tanner lost by one point to toby dawson. put that with what gene wrote and you have common sense.
they both did about the same on the rail, then tanner threw a back tail at the top air and toby did a tech 180 daffy to cross 180, then toby smoked through the bumps and hit a tight d7 at the bottom, about 10 seconds later tanner threw a d9.
i thought that what i saw of the cbs footy (only the bumps cause of some bullshit hour-long 5th quarter showing of the patriots) jonnys appearance was just what it should have been. he didn't say anything dumb. cbs though did a shitty job with all of their graphics and presentation of the event, they need to take a hint from espn's x games footy.
also, about mike D, he gets control of the airing of the xgames for skiing, that is giving him respect where it is due. i like mike.

I thought moseley didnt compete because they didnt show any footage and he was a judge for the moguls and may be more. Right now he is the worst kind of skier because he has the potential to be one of the best but if you dont spend your February skiing instead of snl and your summer in whistler instead of jamacia your definitely going to regress. Hopefully now he realizes without skiing from 9 to 4 every day he will be nowhere near the top pros. I'm sure now he is probably in a pipe praying he can made up for his wasted time so he can made a decent showing at the x-games but its probably too late, he wasted his skills because he never practices.
