Im planning on moving to colorado next summer and plan on spending the same amount of time in the park and backcountry. Ill be a college kid with no money so I cant buy both skis, but what should I go with... park skis or fat twin backcountry?
he didnt give us any info about him just what kind of skiing he'd be doing. people are just giving him their preferences
what kind of ski suits him best is a whole different story
yea i totally agree, that kind of shit pisses me off too
cant do much else with this kind of thread though except say what kind of skis can handle both park and backcountry...but yea i know what youre saying
once you've had fat you wont go back. Last season I was skiing a scratch bc as my park ski which is a mid fat. it was okay out of the park, but id go fatter. The seth vicous, the jp vs. julien, even the maden' would rock colorado. people under estimate a fat skis capabilities. they fucken rock everywhere (moguls excluded but who skis fucken bumps). go fat, you'll never regret it.
if you're a decent skier, you should be able to rock fat twins in the park no problem. i know plenty of people who ski the seth's and ARVs (i ski my ARVs in the park every once and a while) and have no problems. cause think about it - you'd want a ski you could ride in the park with, but if all of a sudden there was a huge dump, you'd want something fat, too.
To all of you guys saying MSP's. He's a poor college student... Everything 4frnt makes is expensive. He can a ski something cheaper and be just as happy.
I'd agree on the Mid-fats. If I were you i'd also wait till after the season especially if you won't even need them now.
I know what you're going through bro. Everything seems expensive in college. I can't afford anything anymore. Hell I'm still riding my 168 cm Scratch FS's from 3 years ago. I grew and I'm 5'11" 165 now. Yeah no fun.
foils from salomon, seth vicious from k2, scratch bc from rossi, karma from volkl, msp from 4frnt, arv from armada, mothership from line... about every company has something in that range. those skis all kill in in the pow and also run shit in the park and everywhere else on the mountain.
