My bindings the look px 12 came with lifters and i read a bunch of threads saying how you can just take them off and put in smaller screws. I took them to my shop and they said the samller screws for the looks with lifters wont fit through the thread, like theyre to wide or something and since im mounting them to a fujative he said if they grinded the screws down they would be a lot weaker since its a wood core. Has anybody else done this, and if i mount them with the lifters is it gonna be a lot worse for park?
im pretty sure u can mount the looks without the lifters, at least u could with the p12 jibs, in fact they guy at the shop told me the mounting guys tell u to use the lifter but u dont have to and lifters r stupid, if u have to have em theyr not too bad tho they just make the ski heavier
I just got screwed the same way. There are only two shops that mount in town, and one doesn't know shit about mounting skis (they've messed a million people's up.) So I took my PX12 lifters to the good one, and I told them to mount them without the lifters. They said they didn't have extra screws to use and that they would grind them. I had no choice but to mount the lifters because I'm going to CO Saturday. This sucks.
P.S. I don't think it's a huge a deal because they were Liberty SB 180s (a lifter isn't as noticeable on fat skis), but I'm still pissed.
if u plan on doin n e kind of grindin, dont gat the lifters. all htey do is add weight and make you higher off your ski. that's not goin to do u n e thing but make it harder to balance and the feel isnt good at all either. now, if youre one of those ppl who have twins and just ski the mountain, lifters will b good cause they cock your feet at a slight angle and its easier to go down steeper runs. please tell me youre not one of those people!
I'm not. I'll use them in the park and pow.I don't know how much I'll use them on rails. I have a pair of beaters for that. I'm just pissed because I really had no choice.
the guy at the shop i went too was such a bitch, i asked him to mount them at +3, -2 from true center and i emphasized the importance of no lifters, then he gave me a long speach on how he doesn't know if salomon allows the tech to mount w/ out the plates and liability issues and i told him it was fine and he jsut needed to mount w/ out the lifter, the guy's english sucked and sure enough they never took the lifters off, my boots sit about an inch or so off my skis.
