Factory corporate vs. rider owned

Theres always a debate over this topic and i was wondering how people really felt vs. what they actually buy. Most people seem to support rider owned because they appreciate the idea. but when it comes to puttin money where their mouth is.. people spend the bucks on the top three.
I personally like dynastar. they've always had a great product, wood core and strong base that ive never had a problem with. I guess i just dont trust rider owned companies that have only been around a year or two makin skis that cost 650 bucks because their product margins suck. Why spend that when i can get a proven quality ski for half that from a factory corporate company.
just my 2 cents

bang for the buck, thats where my money goes, usually. I don't have enough money to spend extra for a lesser product just because the concept is a peachy one. I don't buy into bullshit, I've tried both "Core" and "non-core" skis and as much as I wanted to like the "core" better, the product wasnt all that great. I pretty much try a new ski company every year though just so I can find company. This year I've gone head and I think it will go well, the skis I bought look so bomb-proof and well-made.

I choose Armada because I like the vibe of the company, everyone involved with it is really nice, and I loved the skis I tried.

half the price?!?! um...last i checked companies weren't selling their skis for $325 dollars. usually if an independant company is selling for around $650, that will be the price of the big company. and dynastar sells a big mountain ski for around $1200. thats rediculous. i would much rather buy an armada or surface for half that price and get a better ski.

dynastar nothing but trouble are 399. and the trouble makers are 499. and k2 fugitives are 299... not 1200! research before posting.

i didn't say anything about their park skis being $1200. i said a big mountain ski. if an independant company used the materials they used for their skis, they would sell them for that cheap too. all i'm saying is ski margins throughout the industry are about the same, independant and big companies.

i'm gonna be on k2 for a long time. bulletproof construction, sick ride, and fairly cheap.

I not skied Armadas before, but from what people are saying, their build quality has increased signicantly in the past 2 seasons. I personally like k2. Love the team, love the Skis, and love how they are a big big company but still care about their riders and the sport. I will probably buy Armada in the future, but for now k2 is the one for me.

Well my first pair of twins just sorta fell into my lap, so it was just coincidence that I started out on Line. Now that my 1260's are gettin old, I bought some chronics. I really like Line, and havn't had any durablity problems. I'd like to try some 4frnts, or Ninthward. Hell, i'd like to try every twin out there, but some of them are just so damn expensive.

I have the 05-06 ninthward and they were not to expensive. Got hooked up from people that really care. Line is not overpriced either. just have to ask

I dunno. The whole rider owned thing started a while back with line, Armada and 4FRNT. They got big (relativly speaking). Now theres a new set of rider owned companies coming up (9thward, Liberty and a lot of less known ones like High Society and Faction etc.) They have potential but to be honest at the moment I'd rather not risk my money on a product if I don't know whether or not it's gonna hold up
