So i blew out my car speakers

I bought a nice new cd/mp3 player from target, and put the adapter in the cassette deck and was listening at a reasonable volume, and there was this big thump. Now my speakers sound like there's a furball stuck in there. I drive a 97 honda accord. Any suggestions for new speakers?

eh i personally like having the same type of speakers all around if possible. ive had a few friends mix and match and sometimes they sound a little different from each other. not a huge difference but if your anal about it, then it might bug ya

the polks have more of a bass to them than the all around perfect infiniti.
ok the truth was a buy 2 get 2 free sale on polks, but they only had 2 polks left so they upgraded me to infiniti and i put them in the front. haha

do the install yourself and save some money, its really easy if you know electrics behind steroes, and know your way around your car.

do you have to buy speakers in pairs. I can't buy front and rear speakers in the same package?

^ not unless they are in some package deal which they usually arent. man just go to future shop or best buy and ask them there, they can tell you exactly what you need its not rocket science.

get a big ass bass and put it in your trunk and drive around with your seat really reclined. thats how it would be done.

yes you usually have to buy the front set and rear set separatly. this is most likely because nearly all cars have different sized speakers in different locations so selling a package would only work for certain cars of certain years.
and you dont HAVE to trust the people at best buy or circuit city for what stuff they reccommend. sometimes they know alot about their products and sometimes they dont, its usualy hit or miss with them. but thats why i say goto the store so you can at least play around with all the stuff. they usually have everything they sell on display so you can listen to them and mess with the volume and stuff. that way you can see what you like and is in your price range. i will say though that you can usually trust them on doing the installs. i will say its not THAT hard to do it yourself but it can be a pain and frustrating, and if theyre giving you a free install then why not let em do it. it will be clean and they usually guarentee their work.

so you recommend buying from best buy or circuit city rather than online?
AND
another question. If i buy new speakers, should i buy a new cd deck at the same time, or is it okay to just use the stock radio and a tape adapter.

you wont get near the performance out of new speakers with an old deck or you wont get the preformance out of a new deck without new speakers. gotta be both if you want good audio.
never online. circut city has great stuff. cheaper than best buy too

i reccommend it if you dont want to install everything yourself. also they tend to have stuff on sale and you can pay a little extra for extended warrenties which are actually really nice to have for audio stuff. my buddy blew his brand new speakers within the first month and they replaced them for free no questions asked cause of the warrenty. im not trying to like endorse best buy or circuit city but i have personally had good experiences with them and it saves you a bit of trouble. and if you have a friend who works there like i do they get an insane discount on car audio :0)
but you can also go check stuff out there and then compare prices online if you feel like doing the installs yourself. the worst part is popping off the body panels to get to the speakers. some cars its easy, others its a real bitch.
as for the head unit, i would replace it eventually, it will sound much nicer and will let you control your stereo much better. you dont have to get it at the same time but if you can afford it i would go ahead.

i agree completly. get the warrenty and let them do it. its alot more, but it takes the risk out of it.

anytime. just dont go out and blow them trying to show off to your friends.
its fun in moderation. like when i pulled up next to this like completly tricked out honda yesterday with my 4 friends, put on "thug love" by tupac as loud as my weak ass speakers can go, pumped my brakes, and let him know that my jeep owns his foreign shit bag.
god im really a lame ass. dont bother quoting this.
