Making your own down jacket?

How hard do you think it would be. I've been thinking about it lately. Seems like it wouldnt be all that hard to make one that doesnt have many pockets or features. You wouldnt have to worry about insulating it either like you would if you make a normal jacket cause the feathers would insulate it. Any thoughts?

my grandpa used to make all of his shit. im talkin jackets, pants sleeping bags.... anyway, he still has on of the downs he made back in the day. the thing is amazing, i mean it would toast you in sub0 temps, just b/c thats how he made it. no pockets tho and its way to old/smells so i dont use it. pretty impressive tho.

ya... if made one what kind of material would i use for the exterior? I'd prolly just spray some waterproofing stuff on it to get it waterproofed so it doesnt have to be waterproof
