Smoking after wisdom teeth removed... Bad or not?

How bad is it to smoke the day after wisdom teeth were removed. I got mine out yesterday and I really htink if i smoke, the pain wont be as bad, but i dont want to cause myself any mishaps like infection from smoking or what not. I dunno, anyone have any experience or know if this would be a bad idea?

hey-
I got mine out in August and couldn't resist pulling some 1-hitters later that day and the days afterwards, and I didn't end up with dry socket (luckily) like my brother did. I just kept the cottons completely covering the holes and make sure when you smoke you don't get much air flowing into the holes. then you should be fine.

My dentist told me when I got my teeth pulled that I couldn,t smoke, drink out of a bottle, suck through a straw, things like that for a couple days.

probably depends on whether or not you had surgery. In my case the teeth were already poking out so the dentist just had to pull 'em. I got drunk that very night... If you had surgery, might not be a good idea though...

Its fine as long as you rinse your mouth out REAL good with salt water after every time you smoke

well yeah mine was surgery, they wernt poking out yet, I got stitches in my gums so i have nothing covering the holes but my gums and the stitches. And my mom is being retarded and thinks im gonna OD on these puny little 7.5mg lortabs, so shes giving me one every 6 hours and taking the bottle to work with her, so smoking is the only thing i can do, I think im just gonna try it and see what happens...

Smoking is actually really bad. When you're teeth are pulled, your sockets fill in. When you do the sucking motion you do when you smoke (or drink through a straw, for example) you can break the clots and get what is called a dry socket. Consider yourself fucked after that. They're extremely painful and will hinder you for far longer than you would have been otherwise with just the regular wisdom teeth surgery.

the reason you're not supposed to isn't because smoke will infect the holes. the force in your mouth from pulling the smoke from a pipe (or whatever you use) can cause the blod clots to come out which is what causes a dry socket. just suck very carefully and you should be fine.

That sounds like the worst idea ever.. think of that smoke going into your gums and stuff.. I would say don't smoke, and definetly don't smoke after getting your teeth out.

i got mine taken out, and rested about 2 days, and i started cheifing again when i got back to school. it wasnt that bad, it hurt to cough, and i was still on antibiotics, so i think its pretty chill. try not to have smoke in your mouth for that long. keep it in your lungs and blow it out fast to aviod it irritating your wounds

fuck dude don't even mention my wisdom teeth i am 12 years old u'd think they wouldn't come in until 25 or so not! fuck they had two chip my jaw bone to get it or else it would come in and screw up the whole braces thing i had just went thru two years so 9i said fuck it lets get em out and they were like okay. so i came back to after they put me to sleep i kept having these weird flashbacks when i was younger while asleep and i woke up and i didn't know where i was and i had that blood taste in my mouth for two weeks my cheeks were as swelled up as that fat kids cheeks in willy wonka. i was humongous it hurt so bad. i didn't get dry sockets luckily. if i were you i wouldn't smoke for like a month just the risk if somethin in the cigarette gettin in the holes and even tho there are gaws it still would be a high risk of dry sockets.

yeah fuck cigarrettes, how would that help the pain? But im not smoking, sounds like bad stuff, dont want the dry socket... I just wish my mom would stop being a cunt and hiding the pills in her purse, my mouth hurts like a bitch and she still refuses to give me more than one every 4 hours. And she wouldnt even let me take one 2 hours before i went to work (at wendys) because she thought i would be too fucked up to work!!

its not a big deal at all. my friend smoked within hours of getting his out. I find that getting high intensifies a lot of feelings, pain included so I didnt do it. I'd suggest just drink a beer or two, you wont feel shit. especially if you had a few vikes.

prob not a good idea.
most dentist tell you not to smoke after having them out.
apparently it can affect both your gums and the teeth coming in.
plus i would rather not smoke for a couple days then end up being a toothless willy.
