Okay so of the people here who have lot's of history skiing the P18 I'm wondering how the weight has been for you. They're invincible I know but at what cost, they are twice as heavy as retail bindings. I'm debating to whether to put them on my new 186 Legend Pros or if I should go with an unlifted PX14. I've skied the PX and it's rad so this isn't a thread for a bunch of scared pivot lovers to complain about the new binding just ski it and you'll see that it's better. I already have the P18 sitting here in the box and I'm about to put it on this week but I may go with the lighter binding because the ski is so heavy already. My freinds at Dynastar and Level One think I should go with the lighter one what do you guys think?
hey bud. I have skied the fks 185 (same binding) and they are definitely very heavy. But, since you are putting it on a ski you would be spinning on a lot, I dont think you will mind. But, it seems the px14 is pretty sick too. Either way you cant go wrong. But, I was a big fan of the fks 185, even on a freeride ski
They only weight like a pound more than the normal stock bindings. P18 are a pound less than s916 and almost 1.5 pounds less than the reactors.....
so, they aren't that heavy. I have a pair of P18 on my seth vicious, and a pair of s916 on my Igneous. I don't notice the weight either of them.
If I was jibbing....maybe I would notice it more...but not much. This is the same argument everyone always says about the reactors, but they are on your foot. That is it. it isn't like your having to throw that weight around that much.
It is kind of similar to the spatulas. if you've ever just sat on the chair lift and thrown your spatulas around, they spin very easily as all the weight is directly underfoot.
Just normally skiing, I actually like heavier bindings. They give me more control over my skis.
And if you mounting them on Legend Pros....get them for sure. Those skis are beefy as hell.
If price isn't an issue I would get the P18 for sure.
^I already got the P18s free and now that you mention it bro the additional weight will help me flex the damn things. Good call. Those skis are so bloody stiff I think I'll like the heavier binding and I'm not spinning to win on those things so it's on. The invincible ski gets the invincible binding.
^word T, that's the best call, gnarly assed skis get gnarly assed bindings, and toss those unlifted px14s my way cuz it's snowing and my ANTs are still bindingless, i also need to git some boots, hopefully we'll be able to do that this weekend.
Come check out the new Krypton Rampage at Sierra bro they're a sick fit for you and they are all pimped out not to mention the redick matching Ant steezey brown. We;ll figure out your binding and park ski situation asap too bro.
There is a seperate tongue you can put in to make it the flex of the Krypton Pro. Besides he's skiing several skis and doing many different things on them and you can't do most of them with a stiff boot very well. It's good to get a boot that has a lot of fit/flex options. I'm skiing the Head Mojo for instance this year, medium soft boot out of the box but has more fit options than any boot ever because of the full custom chasis system and it can be made softer or stiffer non-permanently which is a rare bonus. In all reality it's the fit of the boot more than the flex that steers a sidecut ski because it is pressured laterally and not as fowardly weighted/unweighted. What really matters material wise is lateral stiffness/ rigidity in boots today which the Dalbello has a ton of so it will be a sweet choice not to mention I've seen his foot and believe it will fit him well.
yep the krypton pro has peices of the boot that are removable to make it flex more. the krypton rampage is a soft park boot where as the krypton pro or cross are 2 different freeride boots with different levels of flex and liners.
you can get the tongue seperately is my point I didn't mean that it came with them standard. The whole Krypton Line is essentially the same shell though so they all are laterally as stiff.
WOW that's crazy I thought the P18 would be way heavier than the PX14! It doesn't say what the S914 weighs in there too does it? I remember going from reactors to 914s on my Moship Ti's last year was like night and day. I'm rockin the 18's fo sho now. Plus Blue and Orange are complimentary colors hehe.
