i dont know about you but it seems like more and more each year snowboarders are overtaking the park. They think they are the shit and think they have a right above anyone else to be there. This isnt all snowboarders but only some. Yesterday I was out for the first time this season at hunter in NY and the snowboarders sat their asses all over the park so you could barely ski through with out almost killing them all. Also, there was some version of a half pipe up and these little kid snowboarders think they can cut you off and then yell at you for getting in their way. Like seriously get ahold of your ego and stop thinking your the shit. Anyone else have this problem?
Oooooo yes. I'live and ski in Europe. In Italy they don't even let you in the parks because you're a skiër. Last year we had to explain to some idiot what a twintip is. Snowboarders often don't let you on a jump here because they say skiërs ruïn jumps, I mean, what the hell...
The problem is everywhere, and it's not always just snowboarders that crowd the parks. At my mountain atleast, things spread out as the season gets farther along because more and more terrain parks open, so they get spread out.
As far as the parks being dominated number-wise by boarders, it's different at every mountain, and sometimes changes year to year. Last year it was about 50/50 at my mountain.
yeah it can get pretty stupid, but they think the same abuot skiers. and there are those kids in both sports, there are some skiers that clog up the park too. +we kinda gotta remember that the park was built for snowboarders before it was us. it is shitty, but i dont think its the snowbaorders in general, just people that dont know what they are doing.
What pisses me off even more is old mothers and fathers (and sometimes even grandfathers) come into the park with their whole family, then just get in the way.
happens all of the time at my hill. and they even bring little kid lessons. like kids that are learning to ski off the jumps and the instructor that runs the lesson thinks it is funny to help the kids up the jump and ruin the lip by draggin them over it. it really grinds my gears.
Snowboarders aren't taking over the park, they own it. We are taking it over and it's very sick. It's sick how we have to earn our stay there and is probobly more fun than anything else when you do. I mean we tried poaching the big air jump that was held for snowboarders only for the contest and now they decided to break "tradition" and hold one this year.
No snowboarders are not taking over, they originated the idea of a terrain park, and were the only ones in them for a long time. However, the snowboarders of today seem content to sit in the park like you said, and laugh at skiers that do way cooler shit than they ever could. I think that skiers are taking back over, but as pussyfooter said, most of them can't slide a rail. They come into the park and chill with their twintips and bad luitenents and just sit there and look good, then they go, hit the smallest rail and eat shit. But you know, who really gives a shit, posers just put more money into the industry.
i did too last season when i hit a jump, and a little girl skied under me. I just cleared her helmet. it was pretty scary, and with all the adrenaline pumped up i gave her mommy a verbal beating she probably won't forget. it was very graphic lol. I basically explained that if she doesn't want her daughters head to become a shishcabob oh my ski, then she better keep her out of the fucking park.
I find that a group of gawking snowboarders makes for an interesting little obstacle myself. I mean, it's a terrain park, it's supposed to challenge our abilities, right? It would be really nice if people would just go through the park without ceasing forward motion, but I think that's asking too much with how most kids are. I've just come to accept that there will always be little shit-talkers laying around in the park, and until they actually get off their asses and back up what they say, I don't have to acknowlege their existence.
you guys think you have seen a crowded park try going to hyland hills in minnesota. until you go there, you have no idea of what a crowded park means.
but anyways most of the snowboarders that im around are really chill and there is a real mutual respect for one another if you are half way decent. most of the disrespect comes from the shitty snowboarders that can only 5050 a rail and cant tail grab a 5 foot jump
yes yes that is the same here. they try to make themselves look good and shit but they dont even hit the bigger hits or slide rails or boxes. one time i was going up to one of the hits and this kid cut me off, and then slid up the lip of the jump to make it look like he was scoping it to throw down. later that day i saw the kid hit a box straight on, not even sliding it.
we have those instructors come through out park with kids sometimes. pisses me off. but w/e most of the time are park is chill and most of the boarders are chill.
i also forgot to add that that same run where the snowboarder yelled at me, another one threw a snowball at my boyfriend from the lift and then flipped him off for no reason. Another dick move. but i guess that has nothing to do with whether they are a snowboarder or not. its more about the fact that some people are really gay.
The real problem is that we remember the bad instances the most. Like if you get cut off 3 times in a week, you'll look back at it and remember that you couldn't even get through the park without being cut off. I would like to see people pay a little more attention in the park though, just because it's a little more chill than other places doesn't mean that you can just space out and do whatever.
at keystone this snowboarder saw one skier do a rail, looked at his friend while pointing at me and said "i bet 5that guy is gonna do the same trick the other guy just did." but i gotta admit i did laugh before i i flipped the bird said my "fuck yous" and skied away.
so what if we cant do shit, at least we are trying to learn rails. i was at sunday river eating lunch on the side of the trail yesterday(next to the jib park). i was there for 45 minutes and there was one group of boarders that sat there doing nothing the whole time i was there. jesus
you should stop caring about the poser skiers and start just throwing shit down to make them feel stupid, maybe they'll actually try something then. but yea i saw this boarder bitching at this skier chick one day for going off next to him on one of those big/little tables and he totally got his ass kicked by like 3 other skiers; good times.
ya its always the snowborders that cant do shit that chirp and when they make fun of us for skiing and say wear gay and then u ask them y wear gay and they say just because u just are.
and the only reason they snowbored is b/c they dont wanna ski and its
" anti-estblishment" and therefor cool
