When you see some one with 300+ twins with no poles on the bunny hill.
I am not against no poles, but 300+ twins for beguiners? Its wrong. They can barely ski and they wouldn't dare go in the park.

Today I saw a fat kid in jeans, sunglasses, stocking hat and a grey sweater on 06 fujatives. He had no poles to. And he sucked. I asked him if he would go in the park and land backwards. He said he would never do it.

Sure its contributing money to the sport. But he should have been on normal k2 skis untill he gets good enough. You know still contibute but not make our sport look goofy.

I know "you gotta start somewere" but come on You know you die a little inside when you see someone like that.

It goes on and on. I am not mad I am just sad. I want this sport to be big in park and backcountry. And these kids buy them because they 'LOOK' cool. Its fun and should be enjoyed by all. But the store should tell the buyer what he or she is buying.

I just had to let this out. Otherwise this would have turned to hate and I would be ripped on for being a jerk. Now I can get ripped on for being a disapointed jerk.

yeah, i know what you mean. in a couple years, non freestyle skis are gonna get better looking, then theyll get whats best for them,

I don't have any problem with it, I think people can buy whatever ski they want to. As you said before, it's just more money for the industry, and with how big freeskiing is, that's not a bad thing right now. There's always going to be something to complain about with everything, just accept certain imperfections and go out and have fun. That's why we ski in the first place, right?

No, but why would a beguiner pay that much if he or she is just learng and they are gonna out grow them or not use them as much

i agree with this thread, when i began skiing i had a pair of rossignol 123s and ill tell you they werent new at all

I really don't care that much but is just annoying that they wouldnt use that ski the way it was supposed to be used.

They should get a normal ski from the same brand so they still contrute to the industry.

Line, ARMADA, and 4frnt will still be there when they get to that level

ya well that is like the start of snowboarding...half the ppl do it so they can say that they snowboard well i bet skiing in 10 years will turn into taht even tho i dont want it to i would rather have it stay small and ppl do it cause skiing is fun not just to say yea i freeski

yeah i saw an empoley of my hill learning how to ski "he boards" on a 1000$+ set up i wanted to fucking kill him had had new publicememeys p 12's and salomon x-waves those boots will run you about 700$

Maybe whoever hooked him up found some Fujas, flexed them, realized they were soft, and figured soft=beginner, and got them. There's tons of reasons he could have been on those.

^for Xwave 6s. Xwave 8s retail at about $500 canadian, Xwave 10s at approximately $600.

The kid is obviously exagerating. In case you hadn't noticed, $400-600 boots seem expensive to a lot of people.

you're a fascist! all skis should be twin tipped. even race skis! then people might start realizing that skiers are in the park too! i ski at park city and people are still confused by it...

Well Ill have a pair of last years ar5s, and a bunch of other all new gear and be skiing down the bunny hill my first time out this year. But thats cause itll be my first time since ACL surgery.

it doesnt really matter what he skis. but humility is always good, i refused to by any new gear until I got good at skiing, even jacket/snowpants. in retrospect Im not sure why, cuz I just ended up being cold and looking like a hobo the whole time.

I've got the new AR5s 176, armada poles, white j lindeberg setup, a new giro helmet and some neon green wisdoms.. oh an look p12s. I've never really tried the park, but I will do a little this year. Nothing wrong with getting gear you like.

let me think...none? what difference does it make if every gaper on the hill buys twins? nobody is going to give a fuck. if i saw some rich kid in a brand new suit and $300 twins, i would be disappointed too because the guy who sold them to him probably could have got him to pay $500. the more twins sold, the better.

My buddy who is a intermediate skier, i hooked him up with some old 177 1080's i had, and he will be rocking some s920's.

He's about 6'2 255lbs, not a small guy. But he is into it out there hitting jumps, trying rails and he has a blast.

And i dig that.

i think it's weird because when i first started skiing park, and i saw another kid on twin-tips, chances are he was gonna be better than me cuz i was just starting out. And i really dont think twins are a good beginner ski. But all in all, it probably makes our skis cheaper to buy, so i'm not gonna bitch about it. Just gets annoying sometimes.
