I interested in getting an electric guitar. I'm trying to figure out whats a good base model to start with. I see these Fender bullet packages that are like $150, but I'm not sure if they're made like crap. How much should I spend to get a setup thats not to crappy, but not to expensive? Also, how much amp power do I need for just playing around?
yo man...a squir bullet would be good for a begginner guitar but u sound like u want something the next stage up...try maybe an epiphone sg or something like that...can usually pick one up for like 450$$ plus tax...also...u dont need a massive amount of power at all for just messing around...i have ike a 15 watt amp and it shreds for sure...
i can give u a more diect and more spesific type of guitar if u tell me 1. what kind of music u want to play 2. how much u want to spend on a guitar 3. how long u have been playing and what type of stuff do u play(technicality)
Ive got a fender squire strat and a crate 120 watt 2X12 amp. The amp is great and stuff, but im looking for a new guitar. I play anything from metal to funk. what guitar would you guys recomend?
and also, I would recommend the squire strat as a starter guitar/cheap guitar for anybody who plays just about anything.
MY first electric was a Ibanez GAX... I forgot the rest of the name. But it plays really well, I still have it. Action is fast, you might want to replace the humbuckers, I did, It sounds great.
sometimes the squires are really small though... idk i got sick of the strat shape so i got an epiphone lp. its hella sick. plays awesome feels durable looks sick as hell. ive had it for a little over a year now and its held up awesome
Im prob gonna get a small low wattge tube amp. Theyre supposed to have a much better tone, and I dont need a huge stage amp since ill be practicing in my dorm where no one can here me until i learn.
no dude, dont get a tube. you have no need for a tube at all. honestly, you dont even get the full tone on tube unless you crank it. you should definately go with solid state, 10-15 watts (go with 15 i'd say). as for anyone else, a squier would be great for starting.
if you plan on being committed to playing and want a guitar that will last you, buy a standard fender stratocaster. strats are one of the most upgradable guitars out there. for $250 on ebay, i bought a standard strat then put in $300 humbuckers, $250 neck, new bridge and a bunch of other small tweaks. I ended with an incredible guitar for fairly cheap. as for wattage for your amp, 25watts should be more than enough for a beginner, although you might want a 65w-100w if you're going to be doing a lot of jamming with a band.
