...COLDER WEATHER WITH RAIN AND SNOW EXPECTED TONIGHT AND FRIDAY...
A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO THE INTERIOR OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TONIGHT AND FRIDAY. IT WILL BRING A SHARP DROP IN TEMPERATURES BY FRIDAY...ALONG WITH BREEZY WINDS AT TIMES. RAIN AND SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE SHASTA-TRINITY MOUNTAINS AND POSSIBLY INTO THE INTERIOR OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING.
THE MAIN BRUNT OF THE STORM SHOULD COME BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A TOTAL OF FOUR TO EIGHT INCHES OF SNOW ARE FORECAST FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SIERRA NEVADA...INCLUDING THE PASSES ON INTERSTATE 80 AND HIGHWAY 50...FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. UP TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW ARE FORECAST FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS AND MOUNTAINS OF SHASTA COUNTY.
SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT HIGH TONIGHT BUT LOWER AS COLDER AIR FILTERS IN BEHIND THE FRONT. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER TO 5000 TO 5500 FEET BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER BELOW 5000 FEET FRIDAY EVENING BEFORE THE SNOW TAPERS OFF FRIDAY EVENING.
