Today, i ripped a pair of look bindings out of my brand new armada Jp Vs. Julien and I took them to a shop to get them helicoiled, but they said there was too much damage to the place where the screws were. I was just wondering if most ski manufacters will waranty a ripped out binding, particularly Armada

i couldn't agree more with that statement. ive worked 3 years at a shop and that one person who comes in and is nice can make up for a whole day full of assholes.

He can get a free ski easily out of a shop if they don't have the proper certification.

yea the brakes of my looks have both ripped off now. (i have 05 ar5s) look p12 jibs. first one ripped out 270n off a rail at hn, same thing man landed switch fine brake caught and ripped up. then opening day number two at killy i ripped it out after 270n off the F-D. so i have no brakes! but i think the bindings r okay and the skis are deff fine. what happens is sometimes with all bindings when comeing out switch, the brake sticks down just a wee bit more then i should this could be because of poor mounting, bending of brakes during travel or other ways. so when you click in they go up but a tiny tiny bit hangs lower then the skis you land switch it catches and whooooosh the brake rips it really hard if ur goin slow ur brake gets the shit bent outta it. medium speed ur brake rips off. high speed the brake rips off and the binding peels up a bit and rips the mounting screws out from the ski and trash bindings and skis. obviously theres no chart for that. but at HN i was goin pretty slow and my binding bent. at killy i had pretty dec speed and i just fell over and my brake just totally ripped off. ask josh very nicely and tell him you were so stoked to be out on ur brand new skis for the first time (that you bought from him) and your binding just ripped out (which he mounted) and hes a cool guy hell prob do all he can to help ya out

well nobody was really saying the employees weren't doing their job, I mean everybody has the right to screw up once in a while, no big deal. I think that what people were saying is that it is most likely to a mounting mistake rather than a defect in the ski, but it could be possible too. Which shop do you work at?

helicoils are shit unless you are small or dont ski hard. they are completely useless so dont settle for that as a solution. i hvae had to deal with this shit all too many times

If all else fails get yourself a set of 1cm lifters, coz they do not have the same screw pisitions as bindings, Mount the lifters to the ski, and bindings in the lifters, i know that you think lifters are lame, but i think its the easyest and cheapest way to fux the problem. good luck and be careful next time

I ripped my bindings out of my volkl v-pros and my v's. I think this is due to the lack of metal topsheet in which I think they should of used a 3.5mm bit but they used a 4.1mm bit. Im going to take them back to the shop and make them do helicoils for free or at least a 12pk of cheap beer.

My last bindings ripped out too. In one ski-shop they putted in the holes some melted stuff and mounted them again. It worked good for me.

A little update on the whole binding situation, i was able to get them heilcoiled, and so far (i have only skied 1 day since) they have held up fine...Jibij and more importantly Josh was super cool...so right now i am just happy i can ski and that the whole industry that i dealt with (jibij and armada) was super supportive, so until i rip out the heilcoil (knock on wood that i dont) im just happy to ski, and maybe i will deal with this all later after the season is over cuz i dont want to have to ship the ski back cuz then i wont be able to ski period.
