hey guys and girls. i went out today in my orage vibe ht 2 jacket today, shoveled the driveway and jibbed my backyard a little while it was snowing. when i came in, my jacket was a little wet. it wasnt soggey but it did let in a little water. i think my jacket has 3000 mm water proofing but im not sure. i was wondering if products like nikwax and revivex will add to the water proofing or if they will just repel the water and still let some through. i just want my jacket to be more water proof and i dont want to get another jacket. thanks
make aure your jacket is clean first. i've noticed that typically when jackets/pants begin to wet out their "pores" are clogged. so clean the jacket in the machine with dry detergent and the recommended temp. when it is done dry it 15-20 min on med heat-- not any hotter. if that doesn't reactivate the DWR on the outer layer, use nikwax.
I was told explicitly by the reps at my shope to wash jackets/pants with liquid, NOT powder detergent (because the powder clogs the pores),preferably a gentle wash detergent like Zero.
Dry it on LOW heat, or not in the dryer at all. Generally after a high spin cycle, it will dry in 3-6 ours if it freehangs on a hanger (not in the closet).
