Centered Skis

Anyone think that skis made to be center mounted will catch on(like the invaders and elizabeths)?
I think they will or atleast they definently should. alot of people talking about them have been saying that they are alot of fun. It seems to make more sense to me to have the ski made to be centermounted.
what's your thoughts?

I think they'll catch on, they certainly have a place in skiing. Personally, I'd never center-mount a ski because I'm skiing the mountain 95% of the time, but if I did all my skiing in the park, it would be the only way to go.

But on those, you are in front of the side cut, so it makes it a bit akward to ski forward, when the invaders are symetrical

at first its weird because you have all this tail but after one run you get the hang of it and it feels just like skiing normal. not the way to go for pow dayz but it makes park skiing way easier

yeah my triplets are dead centre. at first it feels weird like you have no nose, but you get the hang of it. hasnt really affected my skiing outside the park but its SOOO much better in the park.

im friggen pissed off, i wanted my skis center mounted, and when i bought them i told em mount the binding in the center of the ski. the little chinese dude wrote down CENTER mount. When i finally get my skis in the mail THEY WERENT CENTER MOUNTED!

just get your bindings mounted backwards so your ips are really your tails and ride swithc all the time...... i actuall ythink i might test that out with my old 1080's

they make everything a ton easier, i got my fuji's center mounted and it was the best decision of my life. they are excellent for butters and rails, they in my opinion make skiing funner as everything is hightened. they also make balance on rails with nose presses and tail presses easier from what ive heard

I find with my Guns, which are mounted +4cm from the recommended, that the extra tail is nice in the powder. It helps you float,and gives a better landing pad whether landign forward or backward, park or pow. And they feel amazing on groomers too, so I dont see why mounting close to center harms the skiing.

Some of us ski outside of the park, believe it or not. Center mounting is great for in the park, but it's the worst thing you can possibly do if you're ever going to ski powder, drop cliffs, do moguls, etc, etc.

As long as there's a market for it, I think there will be a product to fill that niche. I think that park skiing has become big enough for the companies to pull their heads out of their asses and start making more skis with sidecuts specifically for center mounting, but line seems to be the only company that's really into it. We'll see if it starts to really catch on in a couple years, I don't see why it won't.

can anyone actually tell the difference between say, trouble makers centered and invaders centered? i'm curious as to whether you will be able to notice any change while skiing.

I love my invaders. I had never skied a TRUE center mounted ski until I rode my invaders, and truthfully I like it better.

My skis are now center and i find it alot funner to ride switch and alot easyer, and doesnt effect my skiing forward at all.

true i have scratches 174 some what forward, but then i have 176 T-Halls at dead center, and they feel shorter than the scratches

hey dude i have the new t-halls too (which are super sick) and i mounted them 2 inches back from dead center and they are riding soooo smooth

once companies realize that people dont mount their twins 12cm back from center anymore(alot of companys are now, like line, head, or 4frnt-stls) then skis will have sidecuts and recomended points closer to center or center

i love the invaders, but they do feel really short at 178s. I got used to it though and Im liking it, but the verdict is out with having a shorter toe to tip on big jumps.

i can definitely see more companies make their skis more center mounted oriented in the near future, almost everyone is mounting at or close to that spot

does a center vs. standard mount affect spin , or mainly just for riding/landing switch . ive got scratch fs 05 and im not sure if i should mount them more modern or standard and i ski about 70% park but not much switch. any tips?

dont put them quite dead center, and they'll still be a joy to ride outside the park. Having them centered might help w/ spins and stuff, but if they're a little back, you wont notice. Why dont you ride switch much? It really only takes a run or maybe two down any beginner trail before you learn to link turns switch. Give it a shot.

i think it does change the way you spin, but mostly when going switch. my PEs are only mounted +4 and it seemed i could pop switch 270 ons with hardly any effort... it could just be my imagination though. you should mount at least +4, in case you start riding switch more or else you'll regret it when you ski 70% park.

I mount everything dead center except fatty's I keep them like 2 or 3 centimeters back from core center. I also find that mounting pipe skis like 1 cm back from core center gives a little more edge.

but like if they're as fat as the prophets like 130 mm waist i don't know if it would matter. if anyone's ridden a snowboard in powder you get a better feeling than on skis and snowboards float fine and they're like more than 260 mm waist.

i just bought a pair of karmas. however i got them about 2-3 inches behind center(is this too far back)??, and now i think i want them about 1 inch behind center. do i have to remount the binding??? and does this ruin the ski??

I'm going to agree with this... Last year I only had my centered madtrix with me and I tried skiing 2-4 feet of powder, it's so impossibly hard and besides just keeping your tips up, you can't ski in the pow.
